Overview

The GRUND black anodized by FARO is a compact recessed floor light designed for outdoor installations. Its black anodized finish gives it a discreet profile that does not visually interrupt the space — it simply appears when the light comes into action. It is a suitable option for those looking to illuminate a garden, terrace, or facade without adding bulky elements to the environment.

This spotlight works with an integrated LED module and emits warm neutral light at 3000K, creating a pleasant atmosphere without being too cold or too intense. The body is made of aluminum with a transparent glass diffuser — materials that hold up well in outdoor conditions and maintain a clean appearance over time.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its products combine careful design with solid technical criteria, and are present in both residential projects and public spaces.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this recessed floor light, it is important to properly prepare the fixing point. As this is a floor spotlight with a depth of 50 mm, you must ensure that the installation recess has the appropriate dimensions to accommodate the body without forcing it. It operates at 24 V direct current, so it requires a compatible transformer — verify that the system it connects to delivers that voltage before proceeding. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to connect it directly to the domestic 220 V mains.

For maintenance, clean the surface of the aluminum body with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the anodized finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Periodically check that the spotlight does not accumulate dirt around the installation area, especially if it is recessed into a floor or pavement.

Design and use

The GRUND black anodized is a recessed floor light with a very compact format — 21 x 21 mm cross-section — that integrates easily into virtually any surface. Its aluminum construction with anodized finish provides resistance without adding weight, something evident in the barely 120 grams of the unit. The transparent glass diffuser allows the light to come out clean, without filters that alter the warm tone emitted by the LED module at 3000K.

This spotlight is designed for outdoor installations, where the design must adapt to the environment without drawing too much attention during the day. Recessed into the floor of a terrace or the pavement of a garden, it practically disappears from sight until it is switched on. That discretion is one of its strong points: it does not break the visual continuity of the floor or facade, and when the lighting is active, it marks the space precisely.

In a garden, this type of recessed light works well to mark paths, border planted areas, or highlight specific elements such as steps or platform edges. Placed flush with the ground, it projects light upward or in the direction the beam points, creating decorative lighting effects that add depth to the space without the need to install a floor lamp or any other element on the ground.

On a terrace, the recessed light allows the space to remain clear. There are no visible cables, no additional posts or columns. The floor stays clean and the lighting appears integrated into it. This is especially useful on terraces with a minimalist design, where every visible element must have a clear reason for being there.

The facade is another common context for this type of spotlight. Recessed into the pavement in front of an entrance or along a plinth, it creates a line of light that guides movement and gives presence to the building at night. The warm tone at 3000K softens the nocturnal appearance without generating the cold effect that light sources with higher color temperatures sometimes produce.

The inner courtyard also benefits from this type of solution. In more intimate spaces, where the level of illumination does not need to be high, a 1W spotlight can be sufficient to create atmosphere and orient without dazzling. The contained power makes the GRUND a suitable option for decorative installations where a high-intensity functional light source is not needed, but rather a light point that accompanies the environment.

This recessed light combines well with other luminaires with clean lines and natural materials — stone, wood, concrete — that are common in contemporary outdoor settings. Its black anodized color fits effortlessly into dark pavements and also contrasts neatly on lighter surfaces.

Questions and answers

Can this recessed light be installed directly into an outdoor floor without any additional housing?

The body has a depth of 50 mm, so it requires a prepared installation recess in the pavement or floor surface that accommodates that dimension. It is not placed on the surface, but embedded in it.

Is the LED module included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The LED module is included in the product. There is no need to purchase any additional light source for the spotlight.

Does this recessed light work with the standard domestic voltage of 220 V?

No. The GRUND operates at 24 V direct current. It requires an external transformer compatible with that voltage. Direct connection to the 220 V mains is neither possible nor safe.
