Overview

TRAM is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed on the ground. It is used to illuminate paths, entrances, terrace edges, garden areas, or any outdoor space where upward-directed light is needed to mark a route or define a perimeter. It does not take up wall space or hang from the ceiling: it is placed directly on the surface, making it especially useful in walkways or access areas where you want to guide the eye without installing additional structures.

What sets this bollard apart is the way it distributes light. The diffuser does not completely enclose the lamp; instead, it joins the structure leaving slots through which light filters in different directions. The result is a lighting effect that does not concentrate all illumination at a single point, but distributes it with an interesting and balanced visual effect. This makes it more than a simple functional bollard: it has a presence of its own even when turned off.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products combine technical criteria with attention to design, intended for both residential use and larger-scale projects.

Installation and specifications

To install this lamp correctly, an outdoor power outlet is required, or wiring must be arranged before placing it. As a floor luminaire, the connection point must be accessible from the base. It is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified professional, especially if it involves work with buried conduits or outdoor junction boxes. The E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately; it is advisable to choose one with a maximum power of 15 W and compatibility with outdoor use or enclosed fixtures.

For maintenance, simply clean the aluminium surface with a damp cloth and, if necessary, with a neutral detergent. Avoid abrasive products that may damage the microtextured finish. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned in the same way, without pressing hard or using solvents. Periodically check that the connections are in good condition, especially after periods of rain or intense cold.

Design and use

The TRAM series was created by Estudi Ribaudí with a clear reference to the urban environment. The silhouette of this bollard is reminiscent of city luminaires: compact, vertical, with clean lines and no unnecessary ornamentation. That sobriety is precisely what makes it versatile. It does not compete visually with its surroundings, but integrates into them, whether in a garden with dense vegetation, a paved entrance, or a courtyard with industrial finishes.

The body is made of aluminium with a dark grey microtextured finish. This finish is not merely aesthetic: it helps conceal accumulated dust between cleanings and provides a texture that feels more resistant to the touch than smooth finishes. The dark grey colour pairs well with both light-coloured pavements and stone or concrete surfaces. In a garden with vegetation, it contrasts without clashing. On a contemporary design terrace, it becomes part of the overall composition without drawing attention away from it.

The opal PMMA diffuser allows light to emerge in a diffuse manner, without bright spots or glare zones. The way this diffuser joins the structure — with slots rather than a sealed closure — allows illumination to be projected 360 degrees. It is not just a bollard that lights upward: it also emits light laterally, creating a halo effect around the lamp. That detail makes a difference when several units are installed in a line, for example along a garden path or at the edge of an access area. The result is continuous, rhythmic lighting that guides without dazzling.

The height of 630 mm positions the light source at a sufficient distance from the ground for the light to reach a wide area without the need for multiple installation points. Unlike a very low bollard that only illuminates the immediate area, this lamp projects further and with greater visual presence. In spaces such as a large courtyard or an entrance with a long walkway, this translates into fewer luminaires needed to cover the space.

The TRAM lantern accepts an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W, with voltage compatibility between 100 V and 240 V, making it suitable for installations in different countries or with different electrical networks. Although the bulb is not included, compatibility with any E27 LED on the market makes it easy to choose according to the desired colour temperature: warmer light for garden settings, neutral light for functional access areas.

In terms of combinations, this lamp works well alongside other outdoor lights in the same dark grey tone, or as a contrast in environments where light-coloured materials predominate. It does not require a sensor and does not run on solar energy: it is a direct-connection luminaire, designed for those who prefer a permanent and stable installation, without depending on weather conditions for its operation.

Questions and answers

Is the E27 bulb included with the TRAM lamp?

No, the light source is not included. An E27 LED bulb must be purchased separately, with a maximum power of 15 W.

Does the opal PMMA diffuser withstand contact with rainwater?

The diffuser is part of a luminaire designed for outdoor use. For specific protection conditions, consult the manufacturer's full technical datasheet before installing in areas with direct exposure to heavy rain.

Is it possible to install several TRAM units in a line to illuminate a long path?

Yes. The lamp emits light 360 degrees through the diffuser slots, making it suitable for series installations along paths or garden edges, creating continuous and uniform lighting.
