SHADOW is an outdoor bollard designed to be installed in the ground to mark paths, accesses, terrace edges or garden areas with a warm and continuous light. Its latticed aluminium body projects shadows onto the ground and nearby surfaces, creating a visual effect that goes beyond functional lighting. This lamp not only illuminates — it defines the space.

The bollard incorporates an integrated LED light source with warm light that offers a colour temperature of 3000K, ideal for outdoor environments where a tone close to that of a flame is desired, without the coldness of white light. The body is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish, and the diffuser is made of opal glass, which softens the light emission and prevents the light source from being visible.

SHADOW was designed by Alex and Manel Lluscà for the brand FARO, a company with a long history in outdoor and indoor lighting. FARO works with materials designed to withstand continuous use in outdoor environments and pays attention to the visual result that each lamp produces in its real surroundings.

Installation and specifications

To install this bollard in the ground, it is necessary to carry out a buried electrical connection with adequate protection for outdoor use. The connection must be made with cable suitable for outdoor use and with a waterproof junction box. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before starting, check that the mains voltage matches the values indicated on the lamp: 220V–240V.

The aluminium body requires no special maintenance, but it is advisable to clean the glass diffuser with a damp cloth without abrasive products to maintain its transparency. Avoid the use of solvents or acid-based cleaners. Since this is an outdoor lamp, periodically check the connection points and the condition of the power cable.

Design and use

The SHADOW bollard starts from a simple idea: light is not only what is seen when switched on, but also what it generates around it. The latticed aluminium body acts as a geometric screen that intercepts part of the light and projects it in the form of shadows onto the ground and nearby surfaces. The result varies depending on the angle from which it is viewed and the distance at which the lamp is placed.

The dark grey aluminium gives the bollard a discreet presence during the day. It does not draw attention when switched off, and this allows it to integrate well into stone accesses, exterior-treated wooden floors, concrete pavements or garden edges with vegetation. When switched on, the effect of projected lights and shadows completely changes the perception of the space.

The opal glass diffuser serves an important function: it prevents the LED from being directly visible. This makes the emission softer and more uniform, without the bright point that can be bothersome to the eye. The temperature of 3000K places the light tone in the warm range, which favours a calm and understated atmosphere.

At 250 mm in height, the bollard has a compact size. It does not visually dominate the space, but rather accompanies it. It can be installed in a row to mark a path, in pairs flanking an entrance, or individually next to an access or step. In environments with little ambient lighting, the decorative effect of the lantern becomes more visible and makes better use of the shadows it projects.

This lamp can work well alongside other low-profile outdoor luminaires, such as wall lights or recessed floor lights. The combination of several light points at different heights creates layers of lighting that make the exterior more pleasant at night. It also combines well with contemporary-style garden elements: concrete planters, dark wooden fences, metal structures.

The weight of just over two kilos indicates solid construction, suitable for a piece that is fixed to the ground and must remain stable against wind or contact. It is not a lightweight plastic lamp, but a bollard designed to last in place with the minimum possible maintenance.

SHADOW does not include a motion sensor or solar system, as it operates with a direct electrical connection at 220V–240V. This guarantees constant and uninterrupted switching on, making it suitable for spaces where continuous and reliable lighting is needed, without depending on solar charging or motion detection to activate.

Questions and answers

Can the LED in the SHADOW bollard be replaced if it breaks?

The SMD LED light source is integrated into the lamp and is not designed to be replaced by the user. In the event of a light source failure, contact us to assess the most appropriate solution.

Can the SHADOW bollard be installed directly on any type of outdoor surface?

The mounting is to the ground, but it requires a buried electrical installation with cable suitable for outdoor use. The type of pavement is not decisive, but it is necessary to have access to an underground electrical connection at the installation point. It is recommended to have an electrician carry out the assembly.

Does the latticed aluminium body withstand outdoor conditions such as rain or temperature variations well?

The body is made of aluminium, a material that tolerates exposure to the elements well and does not rust with water. The dark grey finish also helps the appearance to be maintained over time. For any questions about the condition of the product after installation, you can write to us.
