Overview

The SCREEN beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to illuminate paths, gardens, and parks in an orderly and efficient manner. It is installed directly in the ground and projects light upward, marking routes or highlighting passageways without the need for additional structures. It is a solution designed for open-air spaces where stable, long-lasting lighting is needed without requiring constant maintenance.

What sets this lamp apart is the combination of materials: an aluminum body with a transparent polycarbonate diffuser, IK10 impact resistance, and IP65 protection. This means it performs well in rainy conditions and can withstand use in public or private spaces with heavy traffic. The DALI version allows intensity to be adjusted from a centralized system, which is useful when lighting needs to be adapted according to the time of day or environmental conditions.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Its products combine design criteria with functional requirements, and the SCREEN collection is a clear example of that approach: no compromises on durability, without losing a clean and orderly visual presence in the space.

Installation and specifications

For the installation of this lamp in an outdoor ground setting, a power outlet or buried electrical conduit reaching the anchoring point is required. The connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in installations with a DALI system. Before installing the beacon, make sure the ground is firm and level. If installed in a garden with irrigation, ensure that the pipe system does not interfere with the anchoring. The IP65 protection covers outdoor use, but it is not designed for water immersion.

For maintenance, simply clean the surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminum finish or the polycarbonate diffuser. Periodically check that the seals are in good condition to maintain the level of protection against moisture. Do not handle the lamp while the power is connected.

Design and use

The SCREEN collection by FARO addresses a specific need: having outdoor lights that work well in any weather condition without their presence being intrusive in the environment. The beacon has an aluminum body in dark grey with a clean profile and a discreet silhouette. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows the interior of the lamp to be seen when it is off, but when the COB LED source is activated, the light distribution is uniform and without visible hot spots.

The color temperature of 4000K places this lamp in a neutral range: neither too warm nor excessively cold. This balance makes the illuminated space look clear and natural, without the yellowish tone that can tire the eyes or the bluish white that can sometimes feel harsh in nighttime outdoor settings. For a garden or a park, this type of light creates an environment where moving around feels comfortable and safe.

The beacon format implies a light distribution from the ground upward. This is useful when you want to mark a path, define a zone, or simply create a regular line of illumination along a route. There is no need for an elevated lantern or a tall post. The beacon itself, at 800 mm, generates sufficient visual presence without dominating the space.

The 360-degree version offers symmetrical illumination in all directions, ideal for placing the lamp in the center of an open area or at a point where foot traffic comes from multiple angles. The wide variant, on the other hand, disperses light over a greater lateral distance, which may be more suitable for long paths or access areas where more surface needs to be covered. These options allow the same collection to be adapted to different needs without changing the aesthetic feel of the space.

Compatibility with DALI turns this beacon into part of a dimmable lighting system. From a control panel or a programmer, it is possible to adjust the lamp's intensity according to the time of day. This makes sense both in private installations with multiple light points and in larger-scale projects where the lighting of a garden or outdoor space needs to follow scheduled patterns. Efficiency also improves when power is adjusted to exactly what is needed at each moment.

IK10 resistance is the highest level of protection against mechanical impacts. In an outdoor space with people moving around, gardening equipment, or simply the passage of time, having that level of resistance reduces the likelihood of damage to the luminaire. This is not a minor detail when installing a beacon in a high-traffic area. IP65 protection, for its part, ensures that neither dust nor direct rain affects the lamp's operation. It is a combination designed to last under real outdoor use conditions, without relying on the environment always being ideal.

Questions and answers

Is the SCREEN beacon compatible with DALI dimming systems?

Yes, this lamp includes a DALI version, which allows it to be integrated into centralized intensity control systems. It is possible to adjust the light level from a compatible controller, adapting the lighting to different times of day or environmental conditions.

What level of protection against rain and impacts does this outdoor lamp have?

The lamp features IP65 protection, which protects it against direct rain and dust ingress. It also has IK10 impact resistance, the highest level available, making it suitable for areas with foot traffic or intensive outdoor use.

What is the difference between the 360° option and the wide variant in the SCREEN collection?

The 360° option distributes light symmetrically in all directions, suitable for central points or multi-directional passageways. The wide variant disperses light over a greater lateral distance, which is more efficient for illuminating longer paths or access areas.
