Overview
Overview
The CLAP 512 beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed in the ground and guide the way along paths, access routes or garden areas. Its nearly invisible profile lets the light define the space, not the structure that supports it. It is part of the CLAP system, an outdoor lighting family that combines different solutions under a single aesthetic: from stakes to wall lights, all sharing the same visual and technical language.
This lamp works well when accent lighting outdoors is desired without the luminous element drawing attention during the day. At night, it creates a clean scenic effect, with directed light beams and a warm colour temperature of 3000K. The option of combining it with the anti-glare visor ref. 75714-2 allows better control of the angle and improves visual comfort in frequently used passage areas.
FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting design for residential and collective environments. Its outdoor catalogue is designed to combine durability with a restrained aesthetic, without sacrificing technical detail.
Installation and specifications
For ground installation, a 24VDC low-voltage power supply must already be available at the installation point. As this is an outdoor lamp fixed to the ground, it is recommended that the wiring be protected inside buried corrugated conduit and that the connection be made by a qualified electrician. Before installing, verify that the surface does not have accumulated moisture or irregularities that could compromise stability. The lamp does not require drilling at height, but does require prior preparation of the anchoring point in the pavement or solid ground.
For maintenance, simply clean the aluminium surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black finish. Periodically check that the wiring seal at the base shows no signs of wear, especially in areas with frequent rain or high humidity.

Design and use
The CLAP 512 is a ground beacon that belongs to an outdoor lighting family designed to work together. Within FARO's CLAP system, this accent lamp occupies the most visually discreet position, yet is one of the most effective in terms of lighting results. Its body is made of aluminium in black, with a reduced volume that integrates effortlessly into the pavement or garden edges without breaking the visual continuity of the space.
The 38° beam angle concentrates the light with precision. This is useful on paths where the aim is to illuminate the walking area without the light spreading sideways and creating light pollution in the surroundings. The 3000K colour temperature provides a warm tone that does not distort the colour perception of plants, stone or wood. It is a light that accompanies without interfering.
Being a low-voltage beacon at 24VDC with a 6W consumption, it can be integrated into larger outdoor installations without generating a significant electrical load. This makes it compatible with projects where several lights are distributed along a route, an access way or the perimeter of a garden. It is not a solar lamp, nor does it incorporate a motion sensor or operate in a rechargeable manner, but its contained consumption makes it efficient within a fixed installation.
In terms of design, the black aluminium body withstands outdoor conditions well. Aluminium does not oxidise easily and maintains its finish without the need for frequent additional treatments. The shape of the beacon is compact, with no decorative elements that could accumulate dirt or deteriorate over time. A conventional garden lantern has a daytime presence even when switched off; this beacon, on the other hand, is barely noticeable until nightfall.
The optional anti-glare visor, reference 75714-2, is an accessory worth considering in areas where people pass close to the lamp at eye level, such as pedestrian access routes or terraces. It cuts the direct light beam without reducing the effectiveness of the illumination on the ground, improving the visual experience without losing power where it is needed most.
The CLAP system allows this ground beacon to coexist with other elements of the same family: wall lights on facades, pendants under pergolas or spotlights in trees. They all share the same visual and technical language, making it easy to create a garden or patio with coherent lighting without having to turn to different suppliers or mix styles that do not go together. A single lantern can work, but a complete system delivers a different result.

Questions and answers
Does the CLAP 512 beacon connect directly to the domestic 230V mains electricity supply?
No. This lamp operates at 24VDC, so it requires a compatible low-voltage transformer or power supply. It does not connect directly to the 230V mains. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a professional.
Is the 38° angle fixed or can it be modified?
The beam angle is fixed at 38°. If it is necessary to reduce glare or adjust the beam distribution, the anti-glare visor with reference 75714-2 can be added, which is sold separately and is compatible with this model.
Can the black aluminium body deteriorate with prolonged exposure to sun and rain?
Aluminium is a resistant material for outdoor use. The black finish may lose some intensity after years of intense exposure, but it does not oxidise or deform. Periodic cleaning with a damp cloth is sufficient to keep the body in good condition.
