Overview

The FARO SAU 620 is an outdoor spotlight designed to highlight garden elements: a well-placed plant, a tree, a façade, or any detail that deserves its own light. It is wall-mounted and includes an optional accessory that allows it to be used as a spike, driven directly into the ground. This way, the same fixture can adapt to different situations without the need for construction work.

The body is made of aluminium with a black finish and a transparent diffuser that allows light to pass through without filtering it. The design is clean and discreet: it doesn't draw attention during the day, but performs its function well when night falls. The IP65 protection ensures that the spotlight withstands rain and dust without any issues.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their outdoor products are designed to last under real conditions, with selected materials and finishes that maintain their appearance over time.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the spotlight on a wall, check that the surface is solid and can support the weight of the fixture. The mounting must be done with anchors appropriate for the type of wall, whether brick, concrete, or block. If you are going to use the spike accessory to drive the spotlight into the ground, make sure the ground is firm enough to keep it upright. The wiring must be protected and comply with current electrical regulations for outdoor installations. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician.

For maintenance, clean the aluminium body with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The transparent diffuser may accumulate dust or dirt over time; simply clean it with water and a soft cloth. Do not use solvents or aggressive chemical products. Periodically check the condition of the seals and gaskets to ensure that the moisture protection remains intact.

Design and use

The SAU 620 has a narrow, elongated profile that makes it almost invisible during the day. When switched on, the spotlight directs light precisely toward the point you have chosen: a large plant, a tree in the centre of the garden, the texture of a stone wall, or a decorative element on the patio. This type of focused lighting completely changes the perception of the outdoor space when it gets dark.

The spotlight uses LED technology with a GU10 socket, which ensures low energy consumption and a long service life. The lamp is included, so you can install it and get it running without needing to buy anything else. The voltage range, from 100 V to 240 V, makes it compatible with the standard electrical grid without adapters.

The aluminium body is both lightweight and resistant. This material does not rust or deform with temperature changes, which is important for a spotlight that will be exposed outdoors throughout the year. The black finish is neutral and integrates well with gardens of any style, whether more natural or with modern and geometric elements.

The transparent diffuser does not alter the colour or direction of the light. The beam arrives exactly as emitted by the LED source, which allows textures and volumes to be highlighted with sharpness. This is especially useful if you want to create a grazing light effect on a wall or emphasise the shape of a tree from the ground.

The dual installation option is one of the most practical features of this model. Fixed to a wall, the spotlight acts as a directional reflector that illuminates from a fixed, elevated point. Placed as a spike in the ground, it allows the light to be directed upward, creating very different effects on vegetation or the vertical elements of the garden. There is no need to decide from the outset: you can change the configuration if at any point you decide to reorganise the space.

The IP65 protection means the spotlight is sealed against dust and protected against direct water jets. It withstands rain without any problem, as well as the usual humidity of a garden with irrigation. It does not require any additional cover or need to be in a specially protected area.

The weight of less than one kilogram makes handling easier during installation. Despite its size, the SAU 620 has a discreet presence that does not interfere with the surroundings. In gardens where landscape design plays an important role, this type of powerful, low-profile spotlight is especially suitable, since it is the light that is seen, not the fixture.

Questions and answers

Is the spike accessory for driving the spotlight into the ground included in the box?

No, the spike accessory is optional and is not included as standard. If you want to install the SAU 620 directly in the ground instead of on a wall, you must purchase it separately.

Is IP65 protection sufficient to leave it installed outdoors all year round?

Yes. The IP65 rating indicates that the spotlight is completely protected against dust and against water jets from any direction. It is suitable for permanent outdoor use, including areas with frequent rainfall.

Is the diffuser of the SAU 620 made of glass or plastic?

According to the product specifications, the diffuser is made of transparent glass. This gives it greater resistance and maintains optical clarity over time, without the yellowing that can appear in synthetic materials.
