Overview

The WINDSOR wall light by Faro Barcelona is a wall-mounted luminaire with a large linen shade. It is designed to create ambient lighting in indoor spaces where the light does not need to be direct or intense, but rather soft and even. The linen shade filters light naturally, distributing it without harsh contrasts or overly dark areas.

It is a lamp that fits well in a bedroom, a living room, or a dining room where warmth is sought without sacrificing a clean finish. It also works in a well-ventilated bathroom or in a hallway where the wall light takes up little space and adds visual presence.

Faro Barcelona has been designing luminaires for the European market for decades. Their collections combine solid manufacturing standards with attention to aesthetics, without being tied to a single style. WINDSOR is part of that line: a lamp with its own character that does not compete with the rest of the space, but complements it.

Installation and specifications

Installing this wall light is recommended for those with basic electrical knowledge, or it should be carried out by a professional. It is fixed directly to the wall, so it is necessary to locate the appropriate wall plugs and screws depending on the surface type. Before starting the installation, make sure to switch off the power at the electrical panel. The wall light accepts voltages between 100 V and 240 V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and the rest of Europe. The E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately; make sure not to exceed the maximum power of 15 W indicated.

To clean the metal body in a matt white finish, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. The linen shade may accumulate dust over time; remove it with a dry cloth or a soft-bristle brush, without wetting the fabric. Do not install the lamp in areas with high humidity without adequate protection.

Design and use

The WINDSOR wall light has a body made of steel with a matt white finish. It is a material that provides rigidity to the structure without adding excessive weight, and the matt finish avoids reflections that could distract the eye. The unit weighs 1.67 kg, a figure that indicates a certain solidity, consistent with the size of the shade.

The shade is made of linen with an off-white finish. Linen is a natural fabric that diffuses light gently, without leaving the bulb visible. The result is a diffuse light, without concentrated bright spots, that spreads gradually across the wall and the surrounding area. The off-white tone of the shade adds a slight warmth that pure white does not have, making the lamp feel more welcoming in domestic settings.

In a bedroom, this wall light can be installed on either side of the headboard to replace bedside table lamps. The light it produces is sufficient for reading without disturbing the rest of the space, and the scale of the shade gives the wall light presence without being disproportionate.

In a living room or dining room, a wall light of these characteristics helps to create layers of lighting. Combined with overhead lighting, the wall light softens shadows and adds depth to the space. In a dining room, it can be placed at an intermediate height on the wall, so that it accompanies the table area without causing glare.

In a bathroom with adequate ventilation, a wall light like this can be installed outside splash zones to add ambient light alongside the main lighting. The linen shade and matt white finish are compatible with bathrooms in a simple style or with neutral wall coverings.

In hallways, where space is often limited, a wall light resolves the lighting without taking up floor space. WINDSOR can function as the sole light source in short hallways, or as a complement in longer corridors where it is useful to break up the darkness between sections.

The matt white finish of the body allows the lamp to integrate easily into interiors painted in light or neutral tones. It also contrasts naturally with darker-coloured walls, where the wall light gains visual prominence. The linen shade pairs well with materials such as light wood or rattan, common in Nordic-style interiors or in spaces with natural elements. The overall design of WINDSOR does not belong to a closed style, which gives it versatility to adapt to different environments without the need to redesign the rest of the room.

The E27 LED bulb should be chosen with the desired atmosphere in mind. A warm-temperature LED, between 2700 K and 3000 K, will enhance the soft effect already provided by the linen shade. The maximum power is 15 W, more than sufficient for ambient lighting in any medium-sized room.

Questions and answers

Does the linen shade greatly affect the amount of light that reaches the space?

Yes, the linen filters some of the light and produces diffuse illumination. This wall light is designed for ambient lighting, not for intense functional lighting. If you need to read or work in that area, it is advisable to combine the wall light with another more direct light source.

Is the matt white steel body resistant to typical marks or scratches?

The matt white finish is less prone to showing fingerprints than glossy finishes, but it can be scratched by sharp objects or abrasive products. To keep it in good condition, simply clean it with a soft cloth and no harsh chemical products.

Is this wall light compatible with standard E27 bulbs available in any shop?

Yes, the E27 fitting is the most common on the market. You can use any LED bulb with that type of fitting, as long as it does not exceed the maximum power of 15 W indicated by the manufacturer.
