Overview

The Windsor wall light by Faro Barcelona is a surface-mounted luminaire designed for those who want ambient lighting without sacrificing a clean, tidy visual result. The linen shade in an off-white tone adds warmth to the light it diffuses, while the matte white steel body gives it a discreet presence on the wall. This is a lamp that does not draw attention to itself, but rather becomes a natural part of the space.

The Windsor wall light fits well in a bedroom, living room, dining room, or hallway. Any room where an ambient light source is needed without the fixture becoming the focal point is a suitable place for this lamp. It also works in bathrooms, if the environment allows, or in transitional spaces such as hallways where a continuous and uniform light is desired.

Faro Barcelona is a Spanish company with decades of experience in the design and manufacture of luminaires. Its catalogue combines quality materials with real-use criteria, which is evident in collections like Windsor: simple in appearance, yet well resolved in detail.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, you need access to a power point on the wall or an outlet cable at the intended location. As this is a wall-mounted luminaire, it is recommended to carefully mark the anchor points before drilling. If the wall is made of drywall or hollow material, use appropriate fixings for that type of surface. The electrical connection must be carried out by a person with basic installation knowledge or an electrician; this is not a plug-in lamp. Before any work on the wiring, make sure to switch off the power at the electrical panel.

To clean the matte white steel body, simply use a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents, as they may damage the finish. The linen shade can be cleaned with a dry cloth or a soft brush; wetting it is not recommended. Periodically check that the wall-fixing screws are properly tightened. Always use a bulb that does not exceed 15 W and is compatible with an E27 socket.

Design and use

The Windsor collection by Faro Barcelona is built around a clear idea: to create surface-mounted luminaires with generously sized shades that diffuse light in a wide and uniform manner. This wall light version combines a matte white steel bracket with a linen shade in an off-white tone. The result is a lamp with a serene appearance that does not disrupt its surroundings but does add something to them: the warmth that a fabric shade brings compared to glass or plastic.

Linen as a shade material has its own characteristics. It filters light gently, without creating harsh shadows or intense bright spots. In a bedroom, this translates into a relaxed atmosphere, free from the harshness of direct light. In a living room or dining room, it allows the wall light to be combined with other light sources without any of them competing aggressively with the others. The linen shade also ages gracefully: it retains its appearance for a long time with simple care.

The matte white steel body is both sturdy and lightweight. At 1.67 kg, the wall light does not require a particularly robust fixing, although it is always advisable to anchor any wall luminaire securely. The matte white of the bracket integrates easily with light-coloured walls, but also contrasts subtly against darker tones or wood and stone surfaces. This is not a lamp that demands a specific style: it works in modern interiors, in spaces with Nordic elements, or in rooms with a mix of materials.

In the bathroom, if humidity is not extreme and the location is suitable, this type of wall light can add complementary lighting next to the mirror or in a passageway. In hallways, one or more units of this lamp distributed along the wall create a sequence of ambient light that guides movement without the need for ceiling light points. In the dining room, a wall light at the right height can add visual depth to the space and complement the main lamp above the table.

Compatibility with E27 LED bulbs broadens the colour temperature options. Depending on whether a warm or neutral light bulb is chosen, the effect of the linen varies noticeably: with warm light, the shade takes on a soft golden tone; with neutral light, the result is cleaner and more contemporary. In any case, the 15 W limit is sufficient for ambient lighting, which is the intended use of this luminaire.

Windsor is a collection, not a single model. This means it is possible to combine different versions of the same line in one space while maintaining visual coherence. Should another piece from the collection be added to the same room at any point, the overall look will be balanced without any additional coordination effort.

Questions and answers

Does the linen shade of the Windsor wall light affect the amount of light that reaches the room?

Yes, the linen shade filters the light and reduces its direct intensity. This is precisely what makes the lamp suitable for ambient lighting: it produces a diffuse and uniform light, without direct glare, which creates a sense of calm in the space. If you need task or reading lighting, it is advisable to combine it with another more directional light source.

Is the Windsor wall light suitable for installation in a bathroom?

The product is categorised as an interior luminaire with no specific indication of its protection rating against humidity. It is therefore recommended for use in areas of the bathroom away from the shower or bathtub, where exposure to steam is minimal. For directly humid zones, a wall light with an appropriate IP rating is required.

Is the E27 LED bulb included with the wall light?

No, the bulb is not included. It must be purchased separately. Make sure it has an E27 socket and does not exceed the maximum power of 15 W specified for this lamp.
