Overview

VENICE is a wall light designed by Adolfo Abejón for the brand FARO. Its compact size makes it useful in spaces where a larger lamp would not fit well: a narrow hallway, a small room, a bathroom with little wall space. At the same time, the handmade ceramic shade gives it a character of its own that goes beyond the purely functional.

The lamp is installed directly on the wall with a metal bracket that makes the process easier. The integrated slot in the shade allows it to be placed and removed without additional tools. For anyone renovating their home who does not want technical complications, this makes a real difference.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. It works with its own designers and takes care of both the visual aspect and the quality of materials. VENICE is a good example of that balance.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light you need a power outlet in the wall or an electrical point prepared for a surface-mounted luminaire. The metal bracket is fixed to the wall with anchors suited to the type of surface: drywall, brick, or concrete each require different plugs. Before starting, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. The ceramic shade is fitted at the end, once the wiring has been connected, by sliding it onto the bracket slot. If you have no experience with electrical installations, the most practical option is to hire an electrician.

The ceramic shade can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products that could damage the gloss finish. The aluminum body can be cleaned in the same way. Do not use water directly on the lamp or clean it while the installation is switched on. Check from time to time that the lamp holder is in good condition and that the bulb is properly secured.

Design and use

The VENICE shade is made from white ceramic with a gloss finish and crafted by hand in a workshop in Barcelona. Each piece goes through an artisanal process, giving it a texture and presence not found in mass-produced luminaires. The bracket is made of aluminum with a gloss black finish, a contrast that works well in both light interiors and walls in darker tones.

The wall light measures 174 mm in height, 200 mm in length, and 164 mm in diameter. It is compact, but not insignificant. On a bare wall, it reads as a decorative element with its own weight. In a hallway, it acts as a light point that organizes the space without taking up too much room.

In the living room, a wall light like VENICE can be placed on either side of a painting or a mirror to create balanced lighting. The light it projects upward and to the sides adds warmth to the atmosphere without causing glare. For a dining room, it works well as supplementary light alongside a central pendant, especially if the space has textured or colored walls.

In the bedroom, this wall light replaces bedside lamps when there is no surface available or when the preference is to free up space. The installation height can be adjusted depending on the use: higher if ambient light is desired, at headboard height if used for reading.

In the bathroom, VENICE provides warmer lighting than the usual fluorescent tubes. Placed next to the mirror, it allows details to be seen more clearly without the harshness of overhead light. The shade design, clean and without excessive ornamentation, fits seamlessly in modern bathrooms or those that combine natural materials with white finishes.

In hallways, where light is often scarce and space is limited, this wall light offers a practical solution. Its small size allows it to be installed without interfering with movement, and the white ceramic reflects light well, helping the space feel more spacious.

VENICE is available in several finishes: white, black, pink, cobalt blue, and striped. This makes it adaptable to different styles without changing the shape or structure. A cobalt blue finish can turn the lamp into the focal point of a neutral room. White and black are more versatile and integrate easily into Nordic, modern, or minimalist interiors.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb allows freedom to choose the color temperature according to the desired atmosphere: warm tones for rest areas, neutral or cool tones for workspaces or kitchens. The lamp does not include a bulb, so it is possible to choose directly the one that best suits each space.

Questions and answers

Does the ceramic shade come attached to the bracket or does it need to be assembled separately?

The shade is installed separately, after fixing the metal bracket to the wall. It incorporates a slot that allows it to be placed and removed easily, without the need for additional tools.

Is the wall light compatible with bulbs from other brands or only with FARO bulbs?

It uses a standard E27 socket, so it is compatible with any LED bulb in that format, regardless of the manufacturer. The maximum accepted power is 15 W.

Does the 100 V–240 V voltage range mean it can be installed outside Spain?

Yes. That voltage range covers both the Spanish electrical grid and that of most European countries and other continents, making it suitable for use in different markets without the need for voltage adapters.
