Overview

ROB is a wall light with an integrated reader, designed by FARO for spaces where direct, controllable light is needed without adding extra elements to the environment. The switch on the base allows you to turn the lamp on and off without moving from your spot, which is useful in bedside reading areas, in an armchair, or in any corner where time is spent with a book or a screen.

This wall light fits both domestic renovation projects and hospitality or commercial environments. Its bronze finish gives it a discreet but defined character that does not compete with other elements in the space but rather complements them.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Their products combine real functionality with refined design, built to last and adapt to different usage contexts.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, check that the chosen wall has an accessible connection outlet or wiring at the mounting point. As this is a surface-mounted wall luminaire, it is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified professional. Verify that your installation voltage is compatible with the indicated range before connecting the equipment.

To keep the wall light in good condition, clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may affect the bronze finish. Do not handle the lamp with the power connected.

Design and use

The ROB wall light by FARO has a compact construction. With just 110 mm in height and 155 mm in depth, it takes up little space on the wall and does not interfere with circulation or with nearby decorative elements. The body is made of steel and aluminium, materials that ensure stability and durability without adding unnecessary weight. The unit weighs 0.41 kg, which makes mounting easy even on walls with lightweight cladding.

The bronze finish provides a warm tone that works well in both modern interiors and spaces with a more classic or industrial feel. It is not a colour that stands out excessively, but it has enough presence for the wall light to be a visible element within the overall setting. In a bedroom, for example, it pairs well with dark wood headboards or earth-toned textiles. In a living room, it can be placed next to a bookshelf or on the side of a sofa to create a more intimate lighting zone.

The included high-power LED emits light at 3000 K, a warm colour temperature that is not tiring on the eyes and is suitable for prolonged reading. It does not produce the yellowish tone of incandescent bulbs nor the coldness of neutral white light. It is a light that allows you to see clearly without altering the atmosphere of the space.

The switch integrated into the base is one of the most practical aspects of this model. It allows you to control the lamp directly, without depending on the room's wall switch or a remote control. In a bedroom, this means each person can manage their own reading light without disturbing the other. In a hallway, it makes occasional use easier without having to cross the space to reach the main switch.

In hospitality projects, the ROB wall light has a profile that adapts to different aesthetics. In hotel rooms, it can be installed on both sides of the headboard as an individual reader. In restaurants or workspaces, it provides localised light without generating reflections or glare. Its simplified design is unobtrusive and fits well alongside other wall lights of a similar style.

This model also works well in bathrooms, provided it is installed in areas away from direct water contact and the applicable electrical safety regulations are observed. In a bathroom with a large mirror, one wall light on each side balances the light and eliminates the shadows created by overhead lighting. In longer hallways, several of these wall lights distributed at regular intervals provide continuous illumination without the need for ceiling light points.

The lamp operates within a wide voltage range, from 100 V to 240 V, allowing it to be used in different countries without adapters. This may be relevant for renovation projects in homes with older installations or for businesses with multiple locations.

Questions and answers

Does the switch integrated into the base completely cut the power to the lamp or does it only turn off the light?
