Overview

The LED reader wall light by FARO is a solution designed for those who want sufficient light next to the bed without sacrificing space or cluttering the bedside table with objects. It mounts directly on the wall, freeing up the surface previously occupied by a table lamp. It features a small built-in shelf where you can place your phone or a book, and includes a USB port for charging devices without the need for an additional plug.

The design is by Jordi Blasi. The lines are simple, without decorative elements that draw too much attention. It works well in bedrooms, but can also be used in guest rooms or in spaces where reading lighting makes sense next to an armchair or a chair.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior lighting. Their products combine functionality with a clear aesthetic sensibility, designed for interiors that do not need grand gestures to look great.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, an existing electrical point is required, or the wiring must be routed from the wall. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before starting, make sure to switch off the power at the electrical panel. The steel bracket is fixed with screws directly to the wall, using a suitable anchor for the type of surface. No bulb is included, so it is necessary to purchase an E27 LED lamp of up to 15 W separately.

The steel surface with a matte white finish should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used, as they can damage the finish. The shelf and USB port should be kept free of dust. It is advisable to periodically check that the wall light is securely fixed to the wall and that the cable shows no signs of chafing or visible damage.

Design and use

The body of this wall light is made of steel with a matte white finish. It is a durable material that does not deform over time and maintains a clean appearance without requiring special care. Matte white is a colour that effortlessly adapts to most contemporary interiors, whether combined with light-coloured walls or as a contrast against darker surfaces.

The structure houses an adjustable LED reader, allowing the light to be directed exactly where it is needed. This is especially useful in the bedroom, where one person can read without disturbing another. The reader light is focused and controlled, illuminating not the entire room, but the area where reading is taking place.

The shelf integrated into the body of the wall light is one of its most practical features. It has capacity for a mobile phone, a book, or any small object that would typically take up space on the bedside table. Alongside it, the USB port allows the phone to be charged directly from the wall light, without the need for a charger plugged into the wall. This simplifies the space and reduces the number of visible cables.

In the bedroom, this lamp is usually installed at a height that allows the switch to be reached without getting out of bed. Two units, one on each side of the headboard, provide independence for each person and give symmetry to the overall arrangement. In a young person's room it serves exactly the same function, with the added advantage that the USB port is particularly useful for charging devices overnight.

Although the most common context for this type of wall light is the bedroom, it is not the only one. In a narrow hallway, a wall lamp provides light without taking up floor space. In bathrooms with sufficient space and appropriate installation, a side wall light next to the mirror can work well. There are also cases where it is installed next to a reading armchair in the living room, where the LED reader allows comfortable reading without switching on all the ceiling lighting.

Jordi Blasi's design favours a line that does not compete with the other elements in the space. It has no details that bring it close to a vintage or industrial style. It is a wall light that fits with modern interiors without imposing a specific character. This makes it versatile: it works equally well in a living room with contemporary furniture, in a bedroom with light wood furniture, or in a bathroom with neutral-coloured surfaces.

The matte white finish does not reflect light intensely, which contributes to a softer, more understated appearance. In narrow hallways, where lighting is often scarce, this type of wall lamp can make a notable difference both in the amount of light and in the overall feel of the space.
