Overview

BOARD 350 is a wall light from the brand FARO that combines functionality and personalisation in a single product. The blackboard surface covering the body allows you to write, draw or jot down whatever you like, which makes it unlike any other decorative lamp on the market. It can be used in the kitchen to note down the shopping list, in the dining room to write up the daily menu, or simply to leave a message in the hallway.

The light it emits is warm, at 2700K, creating a pleasant atmosphere without being too intense. The opal diffuser spreads the brightness evenly across the wall and the surrounding space. It is a wall light that does two things at once: it illuminates and decorates.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in the lighting sector. Its products combine functional design with careful finishes, designed for different spaces in the home.

Installation and specifications

For installation, this wall light is fixed directly to the wall. Since the body is made of steel and weighs 2.2 kg, it is advisable to make sure the wall can support that weight without any issues. If mounted on plasterboard or a hollow partition, it is recommended to use appropriate plugs for that type of surface. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if there is no pre-installed junction box at the mounting point. The wall light operates at standard mains voltage, 220V-240V.

To clean the blackboard surface, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The steel body can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding abrasive products that could damage the finish. The PMMA diffuser should also be cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid scratching the opal surface. Do not wet the light fitting directly or use it in areas with direct water exposure.

Design and use

The BOARD 350 wall light has a square format of 350 x 350 mm with only 30 mm of depth, giving it a very slim profile on the wall. It does not protrude, does not take up unnecessary visual space, and yet it stands out thanks to the blackboard finish covering its front surface.

The blackboard is not just aesthetic. It is functional. You can write on it with chalk or blackboard-specific markers, and erase it whenever you want to change the content. This turns the lamp into an active element of the space. In the kitchen, for example, it can be used to jot down recipes or missing ingredients. In the dining room, to write the names of the dishes at a special dinner. In the bedroom, to leave a note or simply decorate with a drawing. In the bathroom it can be used to mark routines or reminders.

The body is made of steel, which gives it solidity and durability. It is not a wall light that will deteriorate over time if treated normally. The PMMA diffuser with an opal finish softens the light from the integrated LED and distributes it without creating bright spots or dark areas. The temperature of 2700K produces a warm light, similar to that of an incandescent bulb, which works well in rooms where a calm atmosphere is desired.

The LED is already included, so there is no need to purchase anything additional to get it up and running. With a consumption of 8W, it is an efficient lamp for everyday use.

This wall light fits well in hallways where targeted lighting and a decorative touch are sought at the same time. It also works in living rooms where ambient light is desired without relying on central lighting. In bathrooms with sufficient space above the mirror or beside the washbasin, it can bring both light and character to the overall setting.

The blackboard finish gives it a distinctive character that works with modern interior styles, but also with more informal or creative environments. It does not need other elements to stand out, although it works well alongside shelving, frames or wooden panels in dark tones. In spaces with an industrial design or clean lines, it fits in without forcing the overall composition.

Questions and answers

Does the blackboard surface withstand continuous use with chalk without deteriorating?

Yes. The blackboard is designed for regular writing and erasing. It can be used normally with conventional chalk or blackboard markers, and cleaned with a damp cloth without the surface losing its properties.

Can the included LED be replaced if it stops working?

The lamp incorporates an integrated SMD LED light source. This type of LED has a long service life under normal conditions of use. In the event of a fault, it is advisable to consult a technician or contact customer service.

Does the wall light work in bathrooms or humid areas?

The product specifications do not indicate an IP protection rating for use in humid areas. For this reason, it is recommended to install it in dry areas of the bathroom, away from the shower or bathtub, where there is no direct exposure to water or steam.
