Overview

AUREA is a wall light designed by Estudi Ribaudí for the brand FARO. Its shape is simple and restrained, with no details that tie it to a specific trend. This allows it to fit well in contemporary interiors without becoming dated over time.

What sets this lamp apart is its adjustable head. The light can be directed wherever it is needed: towards a book, towards the wall, towards a specific corner of the room. For a bedroom where someone reads before sleeping, that detail makes quite a difference to the experience.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine design sensibility with materials that withstand everyday use without complications.

Installation and specifications

Installing this wall light requires a connection to a recessed wall box. As a surface-mounted luminaire with wall fixing, the wiring is integrated into the structure with no hanging elements. It is recommended that the electrical installation be carried out by a qualified technician. Before connecting, check that the mains voltage is compatible with the indicated range.

The steel body can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents on the matte white finish. The PC diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Do not touch the light source with bare hands when it is in operation.

Design and use

The AUREA wall light has a steel body with a matte white finish. It is a finish that does not draw attention to itself, which is precisely its virtue. The lamp integrates into the wall without creating unnecessary contrast, whether on light-coloured surfaces or in rooms with neutral furnishings.

The diffuser is made of polycarbonate with an opal finish. This material distributes light evenly, with no points of concentration or direct glare that might be unpleasant to the eye. The light it emits has a colour temperature of 2700K, which corresponds to a warm tone. It is the kind of light that feels pleasant in spaces where one spends time relaxing.

The light source is an SMD LED included in the lamp itself. There is no need to search for or purchase any additional components. The 8W output is sufficient to illuminate a specific area without generating excessive heat or high energy consumption.

The adjustable head is the most functional feature of this wall light. It allows the angle of the light to be adjusted according to the moment or the need. In a bedroom, it can be directed towards the bed for reading without disturbing someone sleeping beside you. In a hallway, it can be pointed downwards to mark the way. In a living room, it can be aimed at a painting or at a reading area.

In the kitchen, an adjustable wall light can be useful for illuminating the work area when the general lighting does not reach the worktop well. In the dining room, placed at the right height, it can create a different atmosphere from that provided by the central light.

The bathroom is another space where this type of wall light works well. The warm 2700K light is flattering in that environment. Installed on either side of the mirror in the bathroom, it balances the lighting on the face better than an overhead source. It can also go above the mirror if the room layout allows.

In hallways, where space is often limited, the compact dimensions of this lamp are a clear advantage. At 120mm in length and 70mm in depth, it does not intrude into the passage or appear bulky. Several wall lights distributed along a hallway can provide an ordered continuity without visual disruptions.

The design of AUREA has no ornamentation. There are no references to vintage or industrial styles, nor to styles such as Nordic or rustic. It is a form that simply works and does not compete with the rest of the space. That makes it compatible with modern interiors, but also with more eclectic environments where pieces of different origins coexist.

The net weight of the wall light is 0.34kg. It is a lightweight piece that does not require special fixings on standard construction walls. Installation is not complicated if there is already a power point at the location where it is to be placed.

Anyone looking for a lamp for the bedroom who does not want a bedside table cluttered with objects will find in this wall light an tidy solution. Fixed to the wall at the right height, it frees up the surface below and keeps the rest area clear. The room gains visual spaciousness without losing functionality.

In the living room, a wall light like this can complement the general lighting without duplicating it. Placed next to an armchair or beside a bookshelf, it adds a specific focal point where the ceiling lamp does not reach with precision. The result is a more articulated atmosphere, where each area has its own level of light according to its use.

For a kitchen with a breakfast area or bar, the wall light can visually define that corner and give it a more intimate scale within the general space. In the dining room, two symmetrical wall lights on either side of a sideboard or console create a balanced composition that needs no other decorative elements to hold together.

The matte white version of this wall light fits well with surfaces of the same colour, but also works on medium or even dark tones, where the soft contrast makes it visible without being conspicuous. In a bathroom with light-coloured tiles, it goes almost unnoticed aesthetically, while still performing its function well. In bathrooms with darker finishes or materials such as concrete, it becomes a light source that also has a visual presence of its own.

The colour temperature of 2700K is a deliberate choice for spaces where rest is preferred over stimulation. It is not a modern cool or neutral-toned light: it is a light that invites you to slow down. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for bedrooms and bathrooms, but also for any corner of the home where a calmer atmosphere is desired at the end of the day.

In longer hallways, where lighting is often resolved with ceiling points, this wall light offers an alternative at a lower height. The light directed downwards defines the floor clearly and gives a sense of depth without generating glare. It is a discreet solution that improves the experience of moving around the house at night without turning on all the lights.
