Overview

PING is a wall lamp from FARO designed for those looking for a compact and functional lighting solution. Its IP44 certification makes it suitable for humid spaces, such as the bathroom, where not every wall light can be installed without risk. At the same time, its spherical design in a matte black finish with an opal glass diffuser gives it a distinctive character that fits effortlessly in other rooms of the home.

What sets this wall light apart is its dual mounting option: it can be installed as a wall light or as a ceiling flush mount, depending on what each space requires. That flexibility makes it a practical choice both for those renovating and for those simply wanting to replace a specific light point.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in the lighting sector. Their products combine solid technical criteria with careful design, aimed at real domestic use.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this wall light, make sure the electrical circuit you are connecting it to is switched off at the main panel. As a surface-mounted lamp, the wiring must come directly out of the wall at the point where it will be fixed. Verify that the wall can support the anchor and that the junction box is properly aligned with the base of the wall light. If you have any doubts about the process, it is advisable to hire an electrician.

To clean the lamp, use a dry or slightly damp cloth on the aluminium body. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid scratches. Do not use abrasive products or solvents. Since the LED light source is already included, there is no need to handle the inside of the luminaire to change bulbs.

Design and use

The PING lamp has a spherical shape that generates soft, enveloping light. The opal glass diffuser distributes illumination evenly, without intense bright spots or harsh shadows. This makes it particularly comfortable in spaces where time is spent: the bathroom in the morning, the hallway late in the day, or the bedroom before sleep.

The body is made of aluminium with a matte black finish. It is a lightweight, durable and easy-to-maintain material. The matte black does not reflect light aggressively and integrates well on both light-coloured walls and darker interiors. This wall light fits seamlessly into a modern style, but also in spaces with a more industrial touch or with more neutral design elements.

Thanks to the IP44 rating, the lamp is protected against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for bathrooms without external ventilation, indirect shower areas, or any environment with occasional moisture exposure. It is not a submersible luminaire, but it does resist the steam and typical splashes of a domestic bathroom.

In the bedroom it can be used as a bedside wall light, replacing a bedside table lamp. The warm 3000K light creates a calm atmosphere without being excessively dim. In the living room it can be installed on a side wall to complement general lighting, especially in corners where a floor lamp would take up too much space.

In the kitchen or dining room, this wall light can add an extra light point next to a work area or above a specific piece of furniture. It does not replace the main lighting, but can reinforce it in an elegant way. In hallways, where height or available space is often limited, it works well both on the wall and on the ceiling, making use of that dual mounting option.

The 3000K colour temperature provides warm white light, similar to that of old incandescent bulbs. It is a tone that promotes relaxation and is pleasant in everyday living spaces. The 7.8W power output is sufficient to illuminate specific areas without generating high energy consumption.

The compact size of the lamp, with 100 mm in height and 100 mm in length, allows it to be installed even in corners where a larger luminaire would not fit. Its low weight of 0.36 kg makes anchoring easy without the need for additional wall reinforcements. It is, in short, a wall luminaire that fulfils its function well without complicating either installation or maintenance.

Questions and answers

Can the PING wall light be installed in the bathroom without any additional protection?

Yes. The lamp has IP44 certification, which means it is protected against water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for domestic bathrooms without the need for additional protection, as long as it is not installed directly in the shower or bathtub area where there is direct contact with water.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is already included in the lamp. No additional bulb needs to be purchased for it to work.

Can this wall light also be mounted on the ceiling, or only on a wall?

PING can be installed both as a wall light and as a ceiling flush mount. That dual mounting option allows it to be adapted to different spaces without changing the luminaire model.
