Overview

NILO is a wall light designed for the bathroom. It mounts directly on the wall, next to the mirror, and provides light both upward and downward. This allows for balanced lighting that leaves no shadowed areas around the face, something difficult to achieve with a ceiling-mounted lamp.

The wall light has a simple and classic style, with a chrome finish that fits well in bathrooms with clean lines. It does not dominate the space, but it does not go unnoticed either. The LED light source is already included, so there is no need to buy anything else to have it working from day one.

FARO is a brand with years of experience in interior lighting. Its products are designed for domestic use, with a balance between design, functionality and durability. The NILO lamp is a good example of that approach: without unnecessary elements, with materials that hold up well to bathroom humidity.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light correctly, it is recommended to have an existing electrical point on the wall, at the appropriate height relative to the mirror. The wiring must be recessed or covered before fixing the wall light. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to hire an electrician. The accepted voltage range is wide, from 100V to 240V, so it works without adapters in most countries.

To clean the lamp, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Do not use abrasive products or solvents on the chrome body or on the opal PMMA diffuser, as they can damage the finishes. Always disconnect the wall light from the power supply before cleaning any part.

Design and use

The NILO wall light has an elongated and discreet silhouette. With 600 mm in depth, it covers the width of a standard bathroom mirror well, distributing light evenly along the entire area. By emitting light both upward and downward, it avoids the overhead lighting effect that casts unflattering shadows on the face.

The body is made of aluminium with a chrome finish. It is a material that holds up well to bathroom conditions: humidity, temperature changes and steam do not deteriorate it easily. The chrome finish gives a clean and contemporary look without being excessive. It is the type of piece that integrates into the space without drawing too much attention, but that is noticeable when properly positioned.

The diffuser is made of PMMA with an opal finish. This material filters the LED light and softens it before it reaches the space, which prevents direct glare. The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. It is a pleasant tone for the bathroom, where lighting directly influences how colours and skin are perceived.

The SMD LED light source comes already fitted in the wall light. It does not require replacing any bulb when installing it. With a maximum power of 12 W, it provides sufficient lighting for a mirror area without consuming too much energy.

Although the main use of the NILO wall light is the bathroom, its design also fits in other areas of the home. In a hallway, placed at eye level, it can serve as functional lighting while at the same time establishing a coherent aesthetic line. In a bedroom, installed next to the headboard, it offers warm and directed light for reading or setting the ambience of the space without the need for a table lamp. It can also work in a living room or dining room as a supplementary light point, especially on walls where there is no room for bulky elements.

The wall light works well with modern-style interiors, but also with more classic settings. The chrome finish coexists without difficulty alongside metal taps, silver mirror frames or bathroom accessories in neutral tones. In a dining room or living room with straight-lined furniture and soft colours, it adds a lighting detail without disrupting the harmony of the whole.

Regarding installation, the wall light mounts directly on the wall. Its weight of 0.55 kg makes it easy to handle during installation. The low profile of the body, only 40 mm high, means it sits very close to the wall without protruding in a noticeable way.

Questions and answers

Does the wall light emit light in one direction only or also upward?

NILO emits light both upward and downward. This allows for a more uniform distribution around the mirror, with no shadow areas at the top or at the bottom.

What type of diffuser does it have and how does it affect the quality of the light?

The diffuser is made of PMMA with an opal finish. This material softens the LED light before it reaches the space, eliminating direct glare and producing even and pleasant lighting.

Is it necessary to purchase the light source separately?

No. The NILO wall light includes the SMD LED light source. It comes ready to install, with no need to acquire any additional components.
