Overview

The MAY wall light by FARO is a circular-format wall lamp that effortlessly adapts to different spaces in the home. Its coral finish sets it apart visually, and its opal glass diffuser distributes light softly and evenly, without harsh areas or annoying glare. Thanks to its IP44 protection rating, it can also be installed in the bathroom without any issues.

This lamp works both on walls and ceilings, which expands the possibilities when it comes to placement. It is a compact wall light, made of steel, with an integrated LED source that operates at 2700K, meaning a warm tone that creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere in any room.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in decorative lighting. Their products combine functional design with careful finishes, designed to integrate into real domestic environments.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, an electrical point is required on the wall at the desired height. Mounting is done directly onto the surface, securing the base to the support with the included hardware. It is recommended that installation be carried out by an electrician or a person with experience in electrical work. Before starting, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel.

The steel body is cleaned with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. The glass diffuser may accumulate dust over time; simply remove it carefully using a soft cloth. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used. Although the wall light has IP44 protection, it should not be exposed to direct water jets.

Design and use

The MAY wall light was created by FARO's in-house design studio, Faro Lab, as part of a series designed to add character without overwhelming the space. Its circular shape and coral finish make it a piece that stands out, but without imposing itself. It is the kind of lamp that fits in a bedroom corner, in the entrance hallway or above the bathroom mirror, and that every time it is switched on subtly transforms the atmosphere.

The body of the wall light is made of steel, a material that gives it solidity and a clean presence. The diffuser is made of opal glass, which means the light it emits is diffuse, with no hot spots or direct reflections. That warm 2700K light is similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb, and creates that sense of calm sought in rest spaces. For the bedroom or living room, that light tone makes a lot of sense.

The power output is 4 W with COB LED technology, which means low consumption and a long service life without needing to change the bulb. The light source comes included from the factory, ready to connect from the very first moment.

One of the advantages of this wall light is its installation versatility. It can be fixed to the wall in the conventional way, or placed on the ceiling as a surface-mounted ceiling light. This makes it useful in environments with low ceilings where a pendant lamp would not fit, or simply when lateral lighting is desired that accompanies without being the main focal point of the room.

The coral finish deserves attention. It is neither a neutral color nor a garish one; it is an intermediate tone that works well on white walls, light greys or sand tones. In a modern bathroom it can act as a color accent. In a living room with wooden furniture or natural elements it adds warmth without clashing. In hallways with little natural light, the contrast of the coral against a light wall gives the space prominence without the need for other decorative resources.

The MAY series is available in five different finishes, making it possible to combine several units in the same space — for example, two wall lights on either side of a mirror in the bathroom or kitchen — while maintaining design coherence even if different colors are chosen.

Its compact size, with a diameter of 120 mm and a depth of only 80 mm, means it does not take up too much visual space on the wall. It is a lamp that adapts well to small rooms, where every centimeter matters. It also works well in hallways, where there is usually not much room for bulky elements.

In the dining room it can be used as supplementary lighting, complementing a main lamp. In the kitchen, placed above the worktop or near the work area, it provides functional lighting without the need for complex installations. In the bathroom, its IP44 rating ensures it can be used in humid environments without any risk.

Questions and answers

Can this wall light be installed on the ceiling as well as on the wall?

Yes. The MAY wall light is designed to be mounted both on walls and ceilings, functioning in the latter case as a surface-mounted ceiling light. Fixing is done directly onto the surface, with no need for additional structures.

Does the IP44 protection rating allow this wall light to be installed inside the shower?

No. IP44 protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for bathrooms and humid areas in general, but not for installation inside the shower or in direct contact with water jets.

Is the LED bulb included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The COB LED light source is included from the factory. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb; the wall light arrives ready to install and switch on directly.
