Overview

The MAY wall light by FARO is a surface-mounted luminaire designed to be installed on a wall or ceiling, depending on the needs of each space. Its circular shape and blue finish with an opal diffuser make it a piece that provides warm light without overwhelming the atmosphere. It is designed for interiors where uniform lighting and a clean design are sought, with no distracting elements.

This lamp works well in bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, or dining rooms. Thanks to its IP44 rating, it can also be installed in bathrooms, which considerably expands its range of uses within the home. The wall light includes an integrated COB LED light source, so there is no need to purchase bulbs separately.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a track record in lighting design for interiors and exteriors. The MAY series was developed by Faro Lab, the brand's in-house design division, and is available in five different finishes to suit different color palettes and interiors.

Installation and specifications

For wall installation, it is recommended to first locate an existing electrical junction box or prepare one before proceeding. The wall light is fixed directly to the surface, with no need for visible external wiring. Since this involves an electrical connection, if you have no prior experience, it is advisable to have the installation carried out by an electrician. Before starting, make sure to cut the power from the electrical panel.

For maintenance, simply clean the steel surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The glass diffuser may accumulate dust over time; clean it with a soft cloth, without abrasive products or solvents. Do not directly wet the luminaire even though it has IP44 protection, as this rating indicates resistance to splashing, not immersion.

Design and use

The MAY wall light has a circular structure made of steel, with a blue finish that gives it presence without being imposing. It is not a neutral color, but it is not difficult to integrate either: it combines well with white or grey walls, as well as with natural wood finishes or earth tones. In a Nordic-style bathroom or in a bedroom with a cool color palette, it fits in quite naturally.

The opal glass diffuser distributes light evenly, without creating bright spots or strong shadows. The 2700K color temperature corresponds to warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. This type of lighting tends to be more pleasant in rest areas or everyday-use spaces, such as a bedroom or a dining room where time is spent in the evenings.

The integrated COB LED light source consumes only 4 W, making it an efficient wall light for daily use. No bulb replacement is required, as the light source is included as standard. The universal voltage between 100V and 240V makes it compatible with electrical installations in different countries, which is useful if the product is purchased from outside Spain.

With a diameter of 120 mm and a weight of just 0.4 kg, the lamp is compact and lightweight. It adapts to spaces where there is not much room on the wall, such as narrow hallways or corners next to a door. In hallways, a pair of wall lights aligned at the same height create continuous, orderly lighting without the need to install strips or recessed spotlights.

In the kitchen, this wall light can work as ambient lighting above a seating area or a bar. It is not intended as a direct task light over the countertop, but it complements a more functional main lighting setup well. In the living room, placed at mid-height on a side wall, it helps create a warmer atmosphere than that of a uniformly lit ceiling.

The bathroom is another space where this lamp finds its place with ease. The IP44 protection allows it to be installed in areas where there is humidity and occasional splashing, such as next to the mirror or on the wall above the sink. In a modern bathroom with smooth tiles and matte black or chrome fittings, the blue finish of the wall light can act as a color accent without looking forced.

The MAY series is available in five finishes, allowing visual consistency to be maintained if you want to combine several units in different rooms. This lamp, specifically in blue, is the option for those who want to incorporate a touch of color in a controlled way, without resorting to more elaborate decorative pieces.

The overall design is clean and contemporary. It does not belong to a very defined style, which makes it versatile: it works both in interiors with straight lines and industrial materials and in rooms with a warmer atmosphere and natural textures.
