Overview

DOME is a wall light designed by Faro Lab that combines simple geometric shapes with a satin black finish. It is intended for spaces where lighting needs to be functional while also forming part of the visual environment. As a wall light, it works well both in residential projects and in contract spaces where a coherent, understated aesthetic is sought.

The diffuser shade distributes light evenly, avoiding direct glare. The dimmable function allows the intensity to be adjusted according to the time of day or the use of the space. This makes it a lamp that adapts: it can provide focused reading light thanks to the LED reader, or create a more intimate atmosphere when dimmed down.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Its product range combines careful manufacturing with in-house design, developed in its internal laboratory, Faro Lab. The DOME wall light belongs to that line of pieces that reinterpret classic references from a current and restrained perspective.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, an electrical supply point is required on the wall at the chosen location. As a surface-mounted luminaire with direct wall fixing, it is recommended to verify that the support is solid before installation. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The wall light is compatible with voltages from 100V to 240V, so no adapters are required for most domestic electrical networks. The E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

To clean the satin black aluminium surface, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish should not be used. It is advisable to disconnect the lamp from the power supply before any cleaning. Avoiding the accumulation of dust on the diffuser shade helps to maintain the quality of the light over time.

Design and use

The DOME wall light starts from a simple premise: a shape that does not compete with the rest of the space, but does not go unnoticed either. The satin black aluminium body has a character of its own that remains neutral against different interior design styles. It is not a piece that imposes a specific style, but rather integrates easily both in environments with straight lines and in settings with more material warmth.

The diffuser shade is one of the most relevant elements of this lamp. It distributes light without creating concentration points, which is particularly useful in areas where extended time is spent: a bedroom, a living room, a dining room or a workspace. The light it produces does not strain the eyes and contributes to creating a calm visual environment.

The built-in LED reader adds a specific function that many conventional wall lights do not have. It allows a more direct light source to be directed towards a specific point, which is useful for reading in a bedroom without needing to turn on all the lighting in the space. This combination of ambient light and task light in a single wall light reduces the need to add more light points to the space.

The dimmable function allows the intensity of the lamp to be adjusted according to the moment. In a dining room, softer light better accompanies a dinner. In a living room, the ability to lower the intensity helps create a more relaxed atmosphere in the evening. In large bathrooms, where the wall light typically flanks the mirror, adjustable lighting is also practical for adapting illumination to different uses throughout the day.

In hallways, the DOME wall light functions as an orientation light point that is not excessive. Its compact size — less than 25 cm in each dimension — makes it suitable for narrow spaces where a more bulky lamp would take up too much room. The satin black finish contrasts well with light-coloured walls and integrates naturally with dark-toned walls or wood cladding.

In contract environments such as hotels, holiday apartments or coworking spaces with a rest area, the DOME wall light meets the need for a luminaire that combines refined aesthetics with real functionality. Its design, free of superfluous decorative elements, keeps it relevant without the need for frequent updates.

The combination of aluminium with a diffuser shade gives this lamp a discreet but defined presence. It can be placed in pairs on either side of a bed in a bedroom, or as a single unit above a desk or in a transitional room. Also in kitchens with work areas where a directable light is needed without installing ceiling spotlights.
