Overview

The LUPE lamp by FARO is a table lamp designed for residential spaces where detail matters. Designed by Jordi Busquets, it combines a chrome metal structure with a fabric shade that unusually integrates the light source. The result is a piece that does not go unnoticed, but is not excessive either.

If you are looking for a lamp for the bedside table, desk, or a corner of the living room, this option offers something few others have: a construction where the shade and the bulb form a single visual unit. There is no obvious separation between the two parts, giving the whole a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting design and manufacturing. Their products are developed with real domestic use in mind, with selected materials and shapes that adapt to different interior styles.

Installation and specifications

Installing this table lamp requires no special tools or intervention in the ceiling or wall. Simply place it on a stable surface, plug it in, and add an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W. Compatibility with voltages between 100 V and 240 V allows it to be used without adapters in virtually any country.

The fabric shade requires gentle maintenance. To clean it, use a dry or slightly damp cloth without abrasive products. The chrome body can be cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid scratches. Do not expose the lamp to high humidity or install it in areas where it may receive splashes. Always make sure to unplug it before changing the bulb.

Design and use

The LUPE lamp has a height of 530 mm and a depth of 250 mm, making it a well-balanced piece in terms of size. It does not take up too much space on the table, but it does not get lost visually either. Its weight of 1.8 kg gives it sufficient stability on flat surfaces.

The body is made of steel with a chrome finish. This type of finish slightly reflects the surrounding light, which means the lamp changes in appearance depending on the lighting conditions in the room. In a warm environment, the chrome picks up golden tones from the surroundings; in more neutral spaces, it maintains a clean silver appearance. This characteristic makes it compatible with modern-style interiors, but also with more eclectic settings where different materials coexist.

The fabric shade is the element that defines the character of this lamp. Unlike conventional shades, which simply surround the bulb, in the LUPE the integration between shade and light source is part of the design. The light is not perceived as something separate from the form: both elements are conceived together. The fabric filters the light softly, without creating marked shadow areas or direct glare points.

This lamp works especially well on a bedside table. The height of 530 mm allows the light to reach reading height comfortably without any adjustments. It also fits well on a secondary desk or side table in the living room, where it can be used as ambient lighting. In a dining room, it can complement the central lighting when a warmer, closer light point is desired.

The LUPE series was conceived by Jordi Busquets with a contemporary aesthetic. This means it does not fit into a single decorative style, but adapts depending on the environment. In a space with straight lines and cold materials, the chrome reinforces that direction. In a room with more textures and colors, the fabric shade provides a warmer counterpoint. It is not a golden lamp in the classic sense, but the metallic finish can pick up warm reflections from the surroundings, generating that effect in certain contexts.

For those looking for a bedside lamp with a design that departs from the ordinary without being extravagant, the LUPE offers that balance. The integrated shade gives it an appearance that is not entirely conventional, but is not difficult to incorporate into a bedroom, a living room, or a home workspace either.

The E27 socket is one of the most common on the market, making it easy to find a replacement bulb. Compatibility with LED bulbs of up to 15 W allows for efficient energy consumption. The lamp does not include a bulb, so it is necessary to purchase one separately before use.

Questions and answers

Does the fabric shade filter the light well or does it create shadow areas?

The shade is designed to distribute light evenly around the source. As it is integrated with the bulb as part of the design itself, the light diffuses without creating harsh contrasts or marked dark areas.

Is the E27 socket compatible with standard LED bulbs available on the market?

Yes. The E27 socket is the most common in Europe and most countries. Any LED bulb with that format and a maximum power of 15 W is compatible. Please note that the bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

Is the chrome steel base stable enough for a small bedside table?

The lamp weighs 1.8 kg and has a depth of 250 mm, which provides a stable support base on flat surfaces. For standard-sized bedside tables, it should not present any stability issues under normal conditions of use.
