Overview

The FARO table lamp is an interior lighting solution that works well in the bedroom, living room, or on any work desk. Its height of 515 mm makes it visible without taking up too much space on the surface where it is placed. The matte black steel body gives it a firm presence, and the fabric shade softens the light so it is not intrusive.

This table lamp is designed for those who want a specific light source without the complications of installation. It is placed directly on the bedside table, desk, or console, and is ready to use as soon as it is plugged in. No construction work required, no special tools needed.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in the lighting industry. Its products combine quality materials with a functional approach, and this piece is no exception. The design was carried out by Estudi Ribaudí, a studio with a recognizable style that balances the modern with the enduring.

Installation and specifications

Before using this table lamp, check that the wiring of the destination socket is in good condition. As a table lamp, it simply connects to the electrical network via its cable. Place it on a stable, level surface, away from the edge. Do not install it near heat sources or in direct contact with flammable materials.

For cleaning, use a dry or slightly damp cloth on the steel body. The fabric shade can be cleaned with a soft brush to remove accumulated dust. Do not use harsh chemicals or water directly on the shade. Before any cleaning, disconnect the lamp from the electrical network. The LED bulb is not included: when choosing one, respect the 15 W limit and make sure it has an E27 base.

Design and use

The table lamp designed by Estudi Ribaudí for FARO starts from a simple premise: that a lighting piece can be functional and have presence at the same time. The matte black steel body conveys solidity. It is not a finish that shows fingerprints easily, and it holds up just as well in a modern environment as in a more understated one.

The fabric shade is the element that defines the character of this lamp. Unlike rigid glass or ceramic shades, the fabric filters the light in a warmer, more diffuse way. This makes it comfortable to have on for hours without being bothersome to the eyes. On a bedside table, that softness is especially useful: it allows you to read or simply be without that feeling of overly direct light.

On a work desk, it serves another function. It concentrates the light in the area where it is needed without illuminating the entire room. If you share a space with someone, a lamp of this type allows one person to work or read without disturbing others. In the living room, placed on a side table or console, it adds a point of ambient light that complements the main lighting without competing with it.

The table format makes it versatile in terms of placement. It can go on the bedroom bedside table, in a corner of the dining room, on top of a low piece of furniture in the hallway, or next to the sofa in the living room. It does not require any kind of ceiling anchor or wall perforations. This makes it a practical option both for those who are renovating and for those who simply want to change a detail without doing construction work.

The dining room is another space where this type of lamp makes sense. Placed on a sideboard or side table, it helps create a more intimate atmosphere during dinners without relying solely on overhead lighting. The nighttime light generated by a fabric lamp is different from that of a ceramic or glass one: more enveloping, less harsh.

The net weight of 1.8 kg indicates that it is a piece with a certain consistency, not a fragile lamp that moves easily. This helps it remain stable on smooth surfaces. The dimensions — 230 mm base and 515 mm height — place it at a medium size: large enough to have a visual presence, but without invading the work or rest space.

The E27 base is one of the most common on the market, making it easy to find a suitable LED bulb without complications. Compatibility with voltages between 100V and 240V allows it to be used in different countries without additional adapters.

Questions and answers

Does the fabric shade affect the intensity of the light emitted by the lamp?

Yes, the fabric shade filters part of the light and diffuses it in a softer, more uniform way. The result is less direct lighting than that of ceramic or glass shades, which is especially comfortable in rest spaces such as the bedroom or bedside table.

Does the E27 base accept any type of LED bulb on the market?

The E27 base is the most standard in Europe, so the majority of LED bulbs available in stores are compatible. However, the maximum power is 15 W, so the bulb you choose must not exceed that limit.

Is the matte black finish on the steel body resistant to marks and daily use?

The matte black finish has the advantage of concealing fingerprints and small marks better than glossy finishes. With gentle, periodic cleaning with a dry cloth, the steel body maintains its appearance without visible deterioration under normal use.
