Overview

SAVOY is a table lamp designed for those looking for something specific: a light source that does not go unnoticed, but is not overly ornate either. Its matte black steel body and green textile shade form a combination that fits well in a living room, a bedroom, or next to the bed as a bedside lamp. It can also work on a desk or on a side table in any corner where you want to create a warm atmosphere without relying on general lighting.

What sets this lamp apart is the ring located at the top of the shade. When the light is switched on, that ring projects a soft reflection upward, adding a layer of ambient lighting that most conventional table lamps do not offer. It is not just a directed light source: it also helps to add warmth to the surrounding space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products are designed for real domestic use, with careful finishes and materials that hold up well over time.

Installation and specifications

No special tools are needed to install this lamp. As it is a table luminaire, it simply needs to be placed on a flat, stable surface, whether a bedside table, a desk, a console, or any piece of furniture that can support the weight of the object. Make sure the cable reaches a nearby outlet comfortably without being taut. The E27 LED bulb is not included, so it is a good idea to have it on hand before placing the lamp in its final position.

To clean the matte black steel body, it is recommended to use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. The green textile shade should be cleaned carefully, preferably with a soft brush or a lint-free cloth. Do not wet the fabric directly. Always disconnect the lamp from the power supply before cleaning it or changing the bulb.

Design and use

The SAVOY lamp is 510 mm tall with a base of 320 x 320 mm, proportions that place it at a midpoint: it is not a small lamp that goes unnoticed on a side table, but it does not take up so much space as to be uncomfortable on a work desk or a standard-sized bedside table. Its weight of 1.67 kg gives it stability without the need for any kind of anchoring.

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish. This type of finish does not reflect ambient light, which means the lamp has a discreet presence during the day and gains prominence when switched on. Matte black combines easily with light wood furniture, marble or concrete surfaces, and also with neutral tones such as white, grey, or beige. In a living room with a modern or Nordic aesthetic, this lamp works effortlessly as a decorative element.

The green textile shade is one of the most recognisable features of this design. Green in muted or deep tones is a colour that has gained a presence in interior design in recent years, and it integrates well both in spaces with many plants and natural elements and in more urban and industrial interiors. The shade filters the light so that the illuminated area is warm and free from direct glare.

The most distinctive detail of this lamp is the metal ring located at the top of the shade. When the lamp is switched on, that ring acts as a reflector and projects light toward the ceiling, creating an indirect lighting effect that softens the atmosphere of the room. That interplay between the light that comes through the shade and the light projected upward is what gives this piece its character and sets it apart from a standard table lamp.

In the bedroom, this lamp fits perfectly on a bedside table. The light it emits is sufficient for reading or creating a relaxed atmosphere before sleep. In the living room it can be placed on a side table next to the sofa, providing accent lighting without needing to switch on all the room's lighting. It also works well in a dining room as a complementary light source, or on a desk where warm, less cold lighting than a conventional work lamp is desired.

The compatible bulb is of the E27 type with a maximum power of 15 W. The lamp accepts voltages between 100 V and 240 V, so it can be used in any country without adapters. Since no bulb is included, the user can choose the light tone that best suits their needs: warm white for cosy atmospheres or neutral white for more functional use. It was designed by Isaac Piñeiro for FARO, and that origin is evident in the details of proportion and in the coherence between materials and form.

Questions and answers

Is the metal ring at the top a structural part of the lamp or is it purely decorative?

The ring serves both functions. On one hand, it is part of the structure that holds the textile shade. On the other, it acts as a reflector when the lamp is switched on, projecting light upward and creating a reflection on the ceiling that adds ambient lighting to the space.

What type of bulb do I need to buy for this lamp and what is the maximum permitted wattage?

The lamp has an E27 socket and accepts a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included, so it must be purchased separately. It is recommended to use an E27 LED bulb to make the most of energy efficiency and to respect the stated power limit.

Are the lamp's dimensions suitable for placing it on a standard-sized bedside table?

With a 320 mm base and 510 mm height, the lamp is a medium size that fits well on most bedside tables. Before purchasing, it is advisable to measure the available surface and make sure there is at least 35 cm of free space on the table so that the base sits stably and the cable reaches the outlet without tension.
