Overview

The MARTINICA lamp by Faro Barcelona is a table lamp with an adjustable shade and adjustable height. Designed for those who want more than just lighting: a piece that organizes space and gives it character. It works well on a bedside table, on a desk, or as a light source in a living room where direction and control are needed.

Its matte black lacquered steel structure pairs well with modern interiors, but also fits in more classic settings thanks to the shape of its shade. Faro Barcelona has been manufacturing interior luminaires for decades. The MARTINICA collection is one of their classics, thoughtfully updated to suit today's spaces.

Installation and specifications

No special tools or technical knowledge are needed to install this table lamp. Simply place it on a flat, stable surface, plug the cable into a standard outlet, and adjust the shade to the desired angle. Make sure the table or surface can support the total weight of the unit, which is 1.67 kg. Before inserting the bulb, disconnect the lamp from the power supply. Use only E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W, as specified.

To clean the steel structure, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not apply abrasive products or solvents to the black finish, as they may damage the coating. Clean the shade gently to avoid altering the glossy satin finish. Avoid placing the lamp near sources of direct moisture or heat.

Design and use

The MARTINICA lamp starts from a recognizable form: straight arm, solid base, conical metal shade. It is a table lamp that needs no justification. The silhouette speaks for itself, and the glossy satin black finish gives it a discreet yet defined presence.

The body is made of steel, which you can feel and see. There are no ceramic or glass components that might break with an accidental knock. It is a piece that withstands daily use without changing its appearance. The shade, in addition to being adjustable in direction, also allows height adjustment, so the light adapts to whatever is being done at any given moment: reading, working, or simply creating a warm atmosphere in the living room.

On a bedside table, this lamp works well as a reading light. The adjustable shade allows you to direct the beam without disturbing whoever shares the room. And when lowered, it becomes a warm light source that accompanies without interfering. The black body contrasts well with light-toned bedding or natural wood headboards.

In the bedroom, a lamp of this type on the bedside table changes the dynamics of the space. You move from relying on the general ceiling light to having personal control over the lighting. That has a real impact on how the room is perceived at different times of day.

On a desk, it serves its purpose perfectly. The ability to orient the shade allows you to illuminate the work area without glare on the computer screen. The total height of 530 mm is suitable for most standard work surfaces, and the arm has enough reach to stay out of the way while working.

It also fits in a dining room as ambient lighting on a console or side furniture. It does not need to be the main light source to make an impression. In a dining room with soft general lighting, a table lamp like this defines corners and adds warmth without feeling overdone.

The MARTINICA design does not belong to a fixed style. It is not a vintage lamp in the strict sense, although it recalls classic forms. Nor is it an industrial or Nordic proposal. It is a lamp that coexists well with different decorative styles. Black is a color that does not date and integrates easily into contemporary interiors, whether with dark wood furniture, bronze-toned metals, or white finishes.

The collection bears the name MARTINICA, but the lamp makes no direct reference to any geographical style. It is a sober, well-proportioned table lamp that delivers what is asked of it: directed light, neutral aesthetics, and durable materials. No bulb is included, so an E27 LED of up to 15 W must be purchased separately. Compatibility with voltages between 100V and 240V makes it suitable for any standard domestic installation.

Questions and answers

Does the MARTINICA lamp shade allow the direction of the light to be adjusted, or is it fixed in one position?

The shade is adjustable, which allows you to direct the light beam wherever needed. In addition, the height is also adjustable, so it can be adapted to both a bedside table and a desk without losing functionality.

Does the black steel body have any special finish that could deteriorate over time?

The shade has a glossy satin finish. To keep it in good condition, simply clean it with a dry cloth and avoid abrasive products. The black steel body is resistant to daily use with basic care.

Is this table lamp compatible with standard low-energy bulbs available on the market?

Yes. It accepts E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W, which is the most common format in the domestic market. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.
