Overview

The LULA lamp by FARO is a table lamp designed for those looking for a functional object that also fits well in a space. It can be placed on a bedside table, a desk, or a console in the living room without taking up too much space. Its lines are clean and restrained, with no decorative elements to distract.

The design is by Marina Milá, and that is evident in how the details are resolved: the proportion between the steel base and the textile shade, the way light is distributed in the room. LULA is available in several colors within the collection, and this version comes in matte black, which works well in both darker interiors and lighter spaces.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products are made with materials that withstand everyday use without losing their original appearance.

Installation and specifications

No special tools or electrical work are needed to install this lamp. It rests directly on the surface, plugs into a standard outlet, and is ready to use. Make sure the power socket is accessible from where you want to place it. The bulb is not included: you need an E27 base bulb with a maximum power of 15 W, preferably LED for reasonable energy consumption.

To clean the steel base, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products that could damage the matte black finish. The textile part of the shade can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. Do not wet the fabric or spray anything directly onto it. Always unplug the lamp before cleaning it or changing the bulb.

Design and use

The LULA lamp has a structure that combines a steel base with a fabric shade. The result is a piece that looks visually light, even though it weighs almost three kilos, which gives it good stability on a bedside table or desk. It does not move easily, and that is something you appreciate day to day.

The collection includes two sizes: a small lamp and a larger version. This is the large version, with a height of 400 mm and a base of 160 x 150 mm. It occupies a moderate amount of space on the surface where it is placed, without blocking the field of vision or casting excessive shadow over the work or rest area.

Matte black is one of the three colors available in the collection. It integrates well in Nordic-style interiors, in spaces with neutral tones, or in rooms where there are already other black metal elements. It also works as a contrast in rooms with light-colored furniture or white walls. It is not a color that goes unnoticed, but it does not impose itself either.

In the bedroom, this lamp fits well on the bedside table. It provides warm, localized light, useful for reading before sleep without disturbing the rest of the room. The night when the lamp is used with a warm-white LED bulb noticeably changes the atmosphere: it feels calmer and more welcoming. In that sense, LULA fulfills its role as a bedside lamp well without the need for additional accessories.

On the desk, the scale of the lamp is suitable for lighting a work area without creating annoying reflections on the computer screen. It is not an articulated arm lamp, so the direction of the light is fixed, but the textile shade diffuses the beam well and prevents direct glare.

In the living room, it can work on a console, a low shelf, or beside a sofa. As a table lamp, it adds a layer of ambient light that complements the general lighting of the space. If the dining area has a sideboard or buffet, it can also be placed there to create a more intimate light point during dinners.

The combination of steel and textile is common in modern design lighting, but LULA resolves it with a proportion that does not feel forced. The shade is neither too large nor too small in relation to the base. The silhouette is sober without being cold.

Within the context of the collection, it makes sense to use the small and large versions together — for example, on both bedside tables in a bedroom — or to combine them in different rooms while maintaining visual coherence. In any case, each piece also works independently.

Questions and answers

What type of bulb does this lamp require and what is the maximum accepted wattage?

The lamp uses an E27 base and supports a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included. It is recommended to use an LED bulb compatible with that base for efficient performance and a color temperature suited to the environment where it is placed.

Does the lamp work with any standard household voltage?

Yes, it is designed to operate in a range of 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard voltage in Spain and most countries. You simply need to plug it into a conventional outlet without any additional adapters.

How much does the lamp weigh and is it stable on a bedside table or desk?

The net weight is 2.7 kg, which gives it a solid base on any flat surface. It does not shift easily from light bumps or vibrations, which is useful both on a bedside table and on a desk used daily.
