Overview

The FARO DOME M lamp is a table lamp designed for those looking for something specific: warm light, a no-frills design, and an object that fits naturally in any corner of the home. It looks equally at home on a nightstand, a desk, or in a corner of the living room. Its form is clean, without unnecessary details, which allows it to work in different spaces without drawing attention to itself.

The steel body in a matte black finish gives it solidity without looking visually heavy. The diffuser shade distributes light evenly, with no bright spots or harsh shadows. And being dimmable, the intensity can be adjusted to suit the moment: more light for reading, less for setting the mood at dinner or winding down before sleep.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine careful manufacturing with a modern and functional design approach, aimed at both domestic use and contract projects.

Installation and specifications

Before using the lamp, make sure the electrical installation in the space is compatible with the indicated voltage (220V–240V). You will need to purchase separately an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 20 W. For the dimming function to work correctly, use an LED bulb compatible with a dimmer. Place the lamp on a stable, flat surface, away from the edge of the table or nightstand, to avoid accidental falls.

To clean the lamp, always disconnect it from the power supply before touching any part. Use a dry or slightly damp cloth to clean the steel body. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. Do not insert objects into the socket or handle the bulb while the lamp is on or has just been switched off. Keep the diffuser shade free of dust to preserve the quality of the light.

Design and use

DOME M is a table lamp designed by Faro Lab with a clear idea: to bring back the classic dome shape and translate it into a contemporary language, free of ornaments or decorative elements that might distract. The result is a piece with a matte black finish that sits firmly on any surface and occupies space in an orderly way.

The body is made of steel, a material that conveys durability without adding unnecessary visual volume. The matte black, unlike an intense gloss, absorbs ambient light and allows the lamp to integrate into its surroundings rather than stand out from them. It is a discreet yet defined presence, adding character without imposing a particular style.

The diffuser shade serves an important function: it softens the light from the bulb and distributes it evenly across the surrounding space. This avoids the direct point-of-light effect, which strains the eyes, and instead creates a more enveloping atmosphere. On a nightstand, that softness makes the difference between an environment that helps you rest and one that never quite feels comfortable. On a desk, it allows you to work without the lamp interfering with your concentration.

The dimmable function is one of the most useful features in daily use. The same lamp can serve for reading with a clear light at night and for creating a more intimate atmosphere in the living room or dining room during dinner. Without changing anything physical, the lamp's behaviour changes completely depending on the chosen intensity.

With a height of 470 mm and a total diameter of 423 mm, it has a size that fills the space well without being excessive. It fits on a medium-sized nightstand, on a dresser in a hallway, or on a living room shelf. It also works well on a large desk, where the proportion between the lamp and the work surface is well balanced.

In domestic settings, it adapts to both modern interiors and more neutral or classically influenced spaces. The matte black pairs well with dark or metallic furniture, but also with light woods, where it acts as a counterpoint. In contract projects, such as hotel rooms or reception areas, it provides that balance between visual presence and functionality that is typically sought in these spaces.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb makes it easy to find the right type of light: warmer for rest environments, more neutral for work areas. The maximum power of 20 W is sufficient for well-resolved table lighting in typical domestic spaces.

Questions and answers

Does the DOME M lamp include a bulb, or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. You need an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 20 W. If you want to use the dimming function, make sure the bulb is compatible with a dimmer.

Is the shade diameter suitable for placing it on a standard nightstand?

The total diameter of the lamp is 423 mm and the height is 470 mm. It fits without issue on medium to large nightstands. On very small nightstands, it is worth measuring beforehand to ensure the base sits stably and there is enough space.

Is the matte black finish on the steel body resistant to everyday use?

Steel with a matte black finish is a solid and durable material. To keep it in good condition, simply wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products that could alter the surface over time should be avoided.
