Overview

CATA is a table lamp designed by Faro Barcelona. It sits on a table, a bedside table, or a desk, and from there it offers warm, contained light that changes the atmosphere of any corner. It is not a lamp that seeks attention at all costs — it is the kind of piece that fits effortlessly and, once in place, seems as though it was always there.

The walnut wood finish gives it a natural character, without any stridency. It is a lamp that is modern in its conception, but with a presence that does not age. The color temperature is especially warm — 2200K — which means the light it emits is closer to that of a candle than a conventional bulb. For reading before sleep, for creating atmosphere in a living room, or for adding warmth to a dining room, that kind of light makes all the difference.

Faro Barcelona has spent decades developing luminaires for domestic spaces. Their products combine carefully chosen materials with designs built to last, and CATA is a fine example of that approach.

Installation and specifications

Installing this lamp requires no tools or technical knowledge. As a table luminaire, it simply needs to be placed on the chosen surface — a bedside table, a desk, or a console — and plugged into a standard 220V-240V domestic electrical outlet. Make sure the cable reaches the socket comfortably without pulling taut. No anchoring or wall or ceiling mounting is required.

The walnut wood can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could alter the natural finish of the surface. Do not expose the lamp to excessive humidity or direct heat sources. Since it incorporates an integrated LED at very low wattage, the heat generated during use is minimal.

Design and use

CATA has a body made of FSC-certified walnut wood, which guarantees that the wood comes from responsibly managed sources. Visually, the walnut provides a texture and tone that balance warmth with restraint. It is not a showy wood, but it has its own character — the natural grain of each piece means no two lamps are exactly alike.

The lamp emits light at 2200K, a color temperature that sits at the warmest end of the spectrum. That soft, golden light does not strain the eyes and creates a relaxed atmosphere. It is the kind of lighting that works well during moments of rest: beside the bed on a bedside table, on the desk when intense light is no longer needed, or in a corner of the living room where a point of ambient light is desired. In a dining room, placed on a side table or sideboard, it adds an intimate note to the space.

Its size is compact — 250 mm tall, 135 mm wide, and 222 mm deep — which makes it versatile for different surfaces. It does not take up too much space on a small bedside table, nor does it get lost on a larger one. Weighing 0.9 kg, it is light and easy to relocate should the room layout change at any point.

The integrated LED consumes only 2 W, making it an efficient option for continuous use. It is not a lamp designed to illuminate an entire room, but to provide focused, welcoming light wherever it is needed. In a bedroom, it easily replaces a conventional bedside lamp. In a living room or on a desk, it works as a complement to the main lighting.

The design of CATA fits interiors that blend the natural with the contemporary. It works well with light or dark wood furniture, neutral textiles, and concrete or ceramic surfaces. In a setting with earthy tones, the walnut reinforces that palette. In a whiter or more minimalist space, it introduces an organic note that prevents coldness.

The flat pack packaging in which it arrives reduces the environmental impact of transport. Faro Barcelona has considered sustainability not only in the choice of material, but also in how the product reaches its final destination.

Questions and answers

Does the CATA lamp include the light source, or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is already included. No additional components need to be purchased to start using it.
