Overview

The FARO square recessed luminaire is a ceiling lamp designed for those who seek clean, neat lighting without any protruding elements or anything that draws too much attention. It integrates into the ceiling discreetly, leaving only the visible surface of the diffuser flush with the plate. It is a practical solution for spaces where modern design matters as much as functionality.

This lamp fits well in hallways, kitchens, bedrooms, or dining rooms. The matte black finish gives it a defined character without feeling heavy. Its compact design and steel construction make it a stable and durable option. It also features an IP44 protection rating, which allows it to be installed in spaces with a certain level of humidity.

FARO is a brand with a track record in lighting for home and interior design projects. Its products combine quality materials with a functional style that adapts well to different residential environments.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this lamp in the ceiling, it is important to check that the recessed opening has the right dimensions for the housing. The luminaire needs sufficient space inside the ceiling to accommodate the wiring and the body of the luminaire. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if the light point was not previously prepared. The working voltage is 100 V to 240 V, making it compatible with the standard electrical network. The GU10 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

For maintenance of this lamp, simply clean the outer surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. Before cleaning or changing the bulb, make sure the lamp is switched off and disconnected from the power supply. Although the IP44 offers protection against splashes, it is not recommended to clean directly with pressurized water or to submerge any part of the luminaire.

Design and use

The FARO recessed luminaire has a square format of 89 x 89 mm and a height of just 55 mm. These dimensions make it almost unnoticeable once installed in the ceiling. There is no visible mounting bar or prominent frames. What remains visible is a flat, neat surface that simply becomes part of the ceiling.

The steel body gives it solidity despite its reduced weight. The lamp weighs 0.1 kg net, which makes installation easy without the need for additional reinforcement in the ceiling structure. The matte black finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it, which contributes to that effect of total integration with dark or neutral surfaces.

In the kitchen, this type of lamp works very well above the countertop or in food preparation areas, where direct light is needed without a fixture hanging down or getting in the way. In the dining room, several well-distributed units can replace a bulkier central luminaire, offering more uniform lighting with a more modern feel. It is also a good option for bedrooms or rooms with low ceilings where a pendant lamp would not fit well.

The IP44 rating incorporated in this luminaire makes it suitable for the bathroom, as long as the permitted installation zones according to regulations are respected. It is not exclusively for dry indoor use: it can be installed in areas with steam or occasional splashes. This broadens its possibilities within the home without the need to look for a specific reference for each room.

The modern design of this lamp allows it to be combined with other lighting elements without clashing. In a hallway, alongside other recessed lights aligned in the ceiling, it creates a clean and coherent effect. In a kitchen with dark furniture, the black finish of the luminaire reinforces that aesthetic without adding visual noise. In a home office or small office, several light points of this type provide functional lighting without distraction.

The style that FARO proposes with this piece is sober and straightforward. It is not a lamp designed to be the center of attention in the room, but rather to disappear into the ceiling and let the rest of the space speak for itself. That is precisely its greatest value for those who want modern lights without them dominating the atmosphere. Ceiling fixtures with a matte black finish have that ability to integrate into almost any color palette, from white walls to darker or more industrial-toned ceilings.

If you are renovating the bathroom, refurbishing the kitchen, or simply updating the lighting in your home without a major renovation, this FARO recessed lamp can be a very effective option. Compatible with low-consumption GU10 LED bulbs, it keeps energy costs low without sacrificing quality lighting. It is one of those ceiling fixtures that cause no trouble once installed.

Questions and answers

Does the IP44 protection rating allow this luminaire to be installed in the bathroom?

Yes. IP44 indicates that the lamp has protection against water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for wet areas such as the bathroom, as long as the permitted installation zones according to current electrical regulations are respected.

What type of bulb does this luminaire require and is it included?

This lamp uses a GU10 LED bulb with a maximum power of 8 W. The bulb is not included in the package and must be purchased separately before installation.

What are the dimensions of the recess needed to install this lamp in the ceiling?

The body of the luminaire measures 89 x 89 mm at the base and 55 mm in height. The recessed opening in the ceiling must have at least these dimensions so that the lamp fits correctly and sits flush with the surface.
