Overview

The BLANC recessed lamp by FARO is a solution designed for those looking for clean, discreet lighting in the bathroom. Its IP44 protection makes it suitable for installation in ceilings of wet rooms, where a conventional lamp would not work safely. The steel body in matte white finish integrates effortlessly into most modern interiors, without drawing too much attention to itself.

The design is compact: only 80 mm in diameter and 23 mm in height. Once installed in the ceiling, it virtually disappears into the surface. This makes it a good option for spaces where the style should remain neat and free of elements that interrupt the visual flow.

FARO is a brand with years of experience in home lighting. Their products combine functionality with careful design, conceived to integrate well in home environments without requiring special technical knowledge from the buyer.

Installation and specifications

To install this lamp in the ceiling, it is necessary to prepare a recessed opening according to the indicated diameter. Fixing is done from inside the opening. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a person with basic electrical knowledge. Before starting any work, make sure to cut the power supply at the distribution panel. Compatibility with voltages between 100V and 240V allows it to be used on different electrical networks without additional adapters.

To keep the lamp in good condition, clean the steel body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or harsh liquids that could damage the matte white finish. The glass diffuser may accumulate moisture or droplets in bathroom environments; a soft cloth is sufficient to keep it clean. Do not handle the bulb with bare hands when replacing it.

Design and use

The BLANC recessed lamp was designed specifically for environments where humidity is a constant factor. The bathroom is the most obvious space, but it can also be installed in kitchen areas near the worktop, in interior hallways, or in any area where integrated ceiling lighting is preferred without taking up visual space.

The body is made of steel, which gives it solidity without adding unnecessary weight. At just 0.17 kg, the lamp places no structural load on the ceiling. The matte white finish is neutral by definition: it does not shine, does not reflect aggressively, and blends well with both white ceilings and surfaces in other light tones. For those looking for modern lights that do not disrupt the harmony of the space, this finish is a practical choice.

The transparent glass diffuser lets light through exactly as the bulb emits it, without filtering or softening it noticeably. This means that the quality of the lighting depends directly on the GU10 bulb chosen. A warm-toned bulb will create a more intimate atmosphere, suitable for a bedroom or a bathroom designed for relaxation. A neutral or cool-toned one will work better in work areas or in the kitchen, where more functional lighting is needed.

The GU10 socket is one of the most common on the market. Replacing the bulb requires no tools and the available range is wide, from low-consumption options to models with different color temperatures. This provides flexibility to adapt the lighting to the actual use of the space without modifying the luminaire.

The modern, flush design of this recessed lamp integrates well with other bathroom elements: straight-lined mirrors, matte chrome or black fittings, large-format wall coverings. In a small bedroom, several units distributed across the ceiling can replace a pendant lamp, maintaining a clean style and freeing up visual space. Similarly, in a dining room or kitchen, a row of recessed lights above the worktop or table can serve as accent lighting without resorting to a bar or track system.

In Nordic, minimalist, or contemporary style spaces, this luminaire fits naturally. The matte white does not compete with any color palette and the low profile makes the lamp almost invisible when not switched on. For those renovating an entire apartment or simply updating their bathroom lighting, this piece is an option that leaves no room for doubt.

Recessed lights in general convey order. A clean ceiling, free of hanging cables and accessories, makes any room appear larger and more refined. This lamp contributes to that result without the need for major structural changes.

Questions and answers

Is the BLANC lamp suitable for installation directly above the shower or bathtub?

The IP44 protection of this lamp makes it suitable for wet areas, such as the bathroom in general. However, for installations directly above the shower or bathtub, electrical regulations typically require IP65 protection or higher. It is recommended to consult local regulations before installing.

What type of bulb does this luminaire accept and what is the maximum permitted wattage?

The lamp uses a GU10 LED socket and accepts a maximum power of 8 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. It is recommended to use an LED bulb compatible with that socket that does not exceed the indicated wattage.

How much space does it take up on the ceiling once installed?

The total diameter of the luminaire is 80 mm and the height is 23 mm. It is a very compact size, so the opening required in the ceiling is small and the lamp sits virtually flush with the surface.
