Overview

This recessed luminaire from FARO is a ceiling lamp designed for those looking for a clean lighting solution without elements that stand out too much. It installs directly into the ceiling, sitting flush with the surface, with no protruding parts. It is a discreet lamp by design, and that is precisely what makes it useful in so many different spaces.

It works well in kitchens, hallways, bathrooms or bedrooms. Anywhere you want good light without the lamp itself drawing attention. The matte white finish integrates easily with white or light-toned ceilings, which is most common in apartments and homes with a modern or Nordic style. FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in the home lighting sector, with products aimed at both domestic use and larger projects.

Installation and specifications

To install this lamp, a hole of 89 mm in diameter must be made in the ceiling. Before starting, the power supply must be cut off at the main panel. It is advisable to check that there is enough space in the false ceiling to accommodate the body of the luminaire, which has a depth of 55 mm. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The GU10 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

To clean the luminaire, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte white finish should not be used. Since it has IP44 protection, it can be installed in areas with some humidity, such as the bathroom, as long as it is not directly exposed to a stream of water. The bulb should not be handled with the power connected.

Design and use

The body of this lamp is made of steel, which gives it solidity despite its small size. It weighs just 80 grams, so it places no burden on the ceiling structure. The matte white finish is uniform and unobtrusive, which is an advantage when several lights are installed in a row forming a lighting bar on the ceiling.

In terms of design, it is round and completely smooth. There are no pronounced edges or decorative elements that could look dated over time. It is one of those modern lights that work precisely because they do not try to stand out. The modern and restrained style of this luminaire makes it compatible with straight-line kitchens, living rooms with smooth ceilings, bedrooms with a tidy design and hallways where space is tight.

A row of recessed lights is a very common solution in kitchens. A bar of three or five light points is usually placed above the worktop to provide direct and uniform lighting without shadows. This lamp, with its 89 mm diameter, fits well in that type of arrangement. It also works as a single light point over a specific area: above a table in the dining room, next to the headboard in bedrooms or inside a niche in the living room.

In the dining room, a recessed lamp can complement other light sources, such as a central pendant lamp, providing supporting or ambient lighting. In bedrooms and guest rooms, it allows lighting without taking up space, something that is appreciated when the ceiling is low or the room is small.

The IP44 rating considerably expands the range of possible uses. A lamp with this protection can be installed in bathrooms, in areas near the shower or above the kitchen worktop, where steam is common. It is not intended for outdoor use, but it is suitable for the most common damp interiors in any home. The IP44 standard indicates protection against water splashes from any direction, which comfortably covers use in a domestic bathroom.

The GU10 socket is one of the most widely used in modern interior lighting. There are GU10 LED bulbs in different colour temperatures, from the warmest tones to the coolest and most neutral. This allows the luminaire to be adapted to the atmosphere you want to create in each home space. With a maximum power of 8 W, it accommodates the most commonly used GU10 LED bulbs available in any lighting store.

In interior decoration, recessed downlights are used precisely to create a clean ceiling. Several downlights distributed evenly can give the space a sense of order and spaciousness. This luminaire fulfils that function with complete discretion, without any elements that break the visual continuity of the ceiling.
