VENICE is a pendant lamp that works well in spaces where a light source with its own character is desired. Its ceramic shade, handmade in a workshop in Barcelona, gives it a visual presence that goes beyond the functional. The design is by Adolfo Abejón and has that characteristic of not aging: it looks just as good today as it will in several years. The version described here is the multiple canopy with 3 lights, which allows the lighting to be distributed more broadly. It is available in various finishes, including cobalt blue, pink, white and striped, in addition to the black finish with steel body described in this sheet.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long history in interior lighting. Their products combine design criteria with careful manufacturing, and VENICE is a good example of that line of work.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, a ceiling light point with prepared wiring is required. The multiple canopy version requires a rosette or canopy that supports three suspension points. If you are unsure of the condition of the existing wiring, it is recommended that the installation be carried out by an electrician. E27 LED bulbs are not included and must be purchased separately, respecting the indicated maximum power of 15 W per light point.

The ceramic shade requires cleaning with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used. The steel body in gloss black finish can be cleaned with a soft cloth to keep the finish in good condition. Avoid exposing the lamp to environments with continuously high humidity.

Design and use

The VENICE lamp has an oval ceramic shade that is noticeable from the very first moment. It is not a generic piece: each unit passes through the hands of craftsmen in Barcelona, which gives it small variations that make it unique. That artisanal quality does not conflict with a neat and clean result.

The body is made of steel in black, with a gloss finish that gives it visual solidity without feeling heavy. The combination of black metal and ceramic creates a contrast that works well with different styles: from more modern interiors to spaces with more classic or Nordic design elements.

The multiple canopy version groups three pendant lamps in a single installation. This allows you to create a composition of lights above a dining table, a kitchen island, or any area where you want to concentrate the lighting in an orderly way. The three hanging pieces provide a greater visual presence than a single lamp, without needing to install several independent light points.

In a living room, VENICE can work as a central element if placed above a low table or in a large entrance hall. In a bedroom, a single unit above the bedside table or centered on the ceiling gives a balanced result. In the kitchen, the triple version above the countertop or island is a practical and visually consistent solution.

The lamp is pendant, which means it hangs from the ceiling and allows the height to be adjusted according to the space. In high ceilings, it can be left to drop lower to bring the light closer to the work or living area. In lower ceilings, it is adjusted so that it does not interfere with movement or sightlines.

The oval shade directs light downward, making it especially useful above work surfaces or gathering areas such as the dining table. It is not a lamp designed to illuminate the entire room in a general way, but rather to create a warm focal point at a specific spot in the space.

The various available finishes, from the most neutral white to cobalt blue or stripes, allow you to choose the degree of prominence you want to give the piece. The black finish with steel body is the most understated option, the one that integrates without drawing too much attention, although the ceramic always adds texture.

In a bathroom with sufficient ceiling height and appropriate installation, a single unit can work well as a light point above the mirror or in a passage area. In a long hallway, the three pendant lamps of the multiple canopy can be distributed linearly to provide continuity to the lighting.

Compatibility with E27 LED makes it energy efficient. With a warm-toned bulb, the result is a welcoming light. With a more neutral-toned one, the atmosphere shifts toward something more functional. That flexibility depends solely on the bulb chosen.

Does the multiple canopy version require three independent light points in the ceiling?

No. The multiple canopy concentrates the three pendant lamps at a single ceiling connection point, so only one existing light point is needed to install all three units together.

Is the oval ceramic shade the same in every unit?

Since it is handmade in a workshop in Barcelona, small variations between pieces may exist. This is part of the artisanal process and is not considered a defect.

Is the steel body in gloss black finish resistant to oxidation indoors?

Under normal indoor conditions, yes. It is not recommended to install this lamp in areas with constantly very high humidity, such as some types of bathrooms without adequate ventilation.
