Overview

The SAMBA lamp by FARO is a pendant suspension designed for interior spaces where style matters as much as functionality. Its oval papyrus shade in green, combined with a steel body in matte black finish, creates a balanced and recognizable visual presence. It works well in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and rooms in general, and is a particularly valued option in hospitality projects, where a defined character is sought without decorative excess.

What sets SAMBA apart is its installation system that requires no construction work: it comes with a plug and five meters of cable, allowing it to be hung directly from a ceiling hook, which is already included. No electrician or intervention in the home's wiring is needed. The long cable provides room to adjust the height according to the space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in interior and exterior lighting. The SAMBA collection belongs to the FARO Lab line, oriented toward pieces with their own identity and a contemporary vocation.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, it is recommended to first locate a firm ceiling point where the included hook can be placed. The cable measures five meters, allowing the drop to be adapted to different ceiling heights. The connection is made via a standard plug, without the need to intervene in the home's electrical installation. Even so, it is advisable to ensure that the anchor point can support the weight of the lamp before fixing it.

The papyrus shade requires gentle cleaning with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid the use of abrasive products or solvents, as they can damage the material. The steel body in matte black finish is cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. It is not recommended to install this luminaire in a bathroom or kitchen if there is direct exposure to humidity or steam.

Design and use

The SAMBA lamp has an oval diameter of 500 mm, which gives it presence without being disproportionate. That size works well above a dining table, in the center of a medium-sized living room, or as a focal point in a room with standard ceilings. The oval shape of the shade softens the overall look and prevents the lamp from appearing too geometric or rigid.

The matte black steel body is the first thing noticed from a distance. Matte black does not reflect light, which gives a more sober result than a glossy finish. In a space with light tones, it contrasts without clashing. In a darker environment, it blends in naturally. It is a finish that does not draw attention to itself, but lets the shade be the main element.

The oval shade is made of papyrus, a material of plant origin with its own texture. Papyrus filters light gently and creates a warm atmosphere, without the harshness of other diffusers. The white interior finish helps distribute luminosity downward and to the sides, making good use of the maximum 15 watts admitted by the E27 base LED bulb. That combination of materials — steel and papyrus — gives the lamp a character that approaches the handcrafted without losing modern legibility.

In a dining room, SAMBA fits above tables of wood, marble or laminate. The oval shade in green tone pairs well with plants, natural textiles and surfaces in earth tones. In a living room, it can be used as the sole hanging light source or combined with floor or wall lights to complete the ambiance. In a bedroom, the green tone of the shade provides visual calm without darkening the space. And in a youth room or workspace, the pendant adds a touch of character without feeling overdone.

The plug-and-long-cable system makes it especially useful in rented spaces or situations where a fixed installation is not desired. Five meters of cable provide freedom to position it at different points, and the included hook simplifies the process. There is no need for chasing, conduit, or electrical intervention. A suitable ceiling point is all that is needed.

In hospitality projects — hotels, tourist apartments, coworking spaces with rest areas — SAMBA offers a recognizable and coherent aesthetic that adapts well to being repeated across different units without visually exhausting the space. The green of the oval shade serves as a defining feature of the environment without requiring other supporting decorative elements. The warm light of an E27 LED bulb at medium color temperature completes the effect without additional effort.

Questions and answers

Is the five-meter cable adjustable in length or does it come fixed at that measurement?

The cable comes at a fixed length of five meters. It does not include an adjustment mechanism, but it can be gathered manually if a shorter drop is needed.

What type of bulb does this pendant lamp accept and is it included?

It accepts an LED bulb with an E27 base and a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

Is the oval papyrus shade resistant to the heat of the bulb?

Yes, as long as the indicated maximum power of 15 W is respected. Using a higher-wattage bulb could damage the diffuser material.
