Overview

The SAMBA lamp by FARO is a pendant ceiling luminaire designed for those looking for a light source with its own character. Its white papyrus shade with a matte black structure creates a visual combination that works well in living rooms, dining rooms, or bedrooms with a defined style. The five-light set distributes illumination generously, covering large spaces without leaving any areas in shadow.

The version with a multiple canopy of five lights is especially suitable for rooms with standard ceiling height where a clear visual presence from the ceiling is needed. It is not a lamp that goes unnoticed, but it does not overload the space either. It is also a common choice in hospitality projects, where atmosphere and visual coherence matter as much as function.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its collections combine aesthetic judgment with careful manufacturing, and the SAMBA line is a good example of that approach.

Installation and specifications

For installation, the canopy must be fixed to the ceiling using anchors appropriate for the surface type. The suspension cable has a length of up to 5000 mm, which allows the height of the pendant lamp to be adjusted with considerable margin. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. The lamp operates at a universal voltage between 100 V and 240 V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid. E27 LED bulbs are not included and must be purchased separately, with a maximum power of 15 W per light point.

For maintenance, it is advisable to clean the papyrus shades with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without abrasive products or solvents. The matte black steel body is easily cleaned with a soft cloth. Before any cleaning or bulb replacement, the lamp must be disconnected from the electrical grid. Do not expose to environments with high humidity such as the bathroom without first checking that the installation is suitable for that setting.

Design and use

The SAMBA collection by FARO starts from a clear concept: creating a pendant lamp that works as a decorative element without giving up practicality. The five-light version takes that concept a step further, multiplying the visual presence and light output within the same set suspended from the ceiling.

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish. That finish does not reflect light, giving the structure a clean and contained appearance. The shades are made of white papyrus, a material that filters light softly and creates a warm atmosphere around each light point. The combination of matte black and white is one of the most versatile in interior decoration because it integrates well with neutral palettes as well as color accents.

In a Nordic or contemporary-style living room, this ceiling lamp adds visual structure without dominating the overall look. In a dining room, the five light points create uniform illumination over the table that is comfortable for long gatherings. In a bedroom, the softness of the papyrus prevents glare and creates a more subdued ambient light. The lamp can also be installed in a high-ceilinged hallway where more than one visual focal point is needed.

The papyrus shade has a certain natural texture that is reminiscent of materials such as wicker or rattan, although its finish is lighter and more delicate. That texture means the light it emits is not completely uniform but slightly lively, which adds depth to the atmosphere. In photographs or interior design projects, that detail is usually what distinguishes a flat room from one with personality.

The pendant lamp accepts E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W per socket. With five light points, the set offers sufficient light output to cover medium-sized spaces without the need for additional light sources. Compatibility with low-consumption LED bulbs makes it a reasonable long-term choice.

The suspension cable of up to 5000 mm allows the lamp to be installed in high-ceilinged rooms without looking disproportionate, or to adjust the height in standard ceilings so that the groups of shades hang at a visually balanced distance. The dimensions of 500 x 500 mm make it a piece with a real presence, not a minor accessory.

This modern ceiling lamp adapts well both to full renovations and to partial decoration updates. If the rest of the space already has elements in black, the body integrates without forcing. If light tones predominate, the white shades maintain the lightness of the overall look.

Questions and answers

Can the suspension cable be shortened for standard ceiling heights?

Yes. The cable has a maximum length of 5000 mm, but it can be trimmed during installation to adapt it to the ceiling height. It is recommended that an electrician make the adjustment to ensure a safe finish.

Do the five lights work independently or all at once?

All the lights on the pendant lamp operate on the same circuit, so they switch on and off together from the ceiling switch.

Is the papyrus diffuser durable, or can it deteriorate from the heat of the bulbs?

Papyrus is a lightweight but stable material when used with low-heat-emission LED bulbs. Since the wattage does not exceed 15 W per socket, the heat generated is minimal and does not compromise the diffuser under normal conditions of use.
