Overview

The FARO KOMBO lamp is a suspension luminaire designed for interior spaces where design matters as much as functionality. It hangs from the ceiling and provides a clean visual presence, with no distracting elements. It is a suitable option for the dining room, living room, or any room where direct lighting with a touch of style is desired.

The KOMBO series was developed by the Nutcreatives studio with a clear idea: to combine simple geometry with durable materials. The oval metal shade in grey and the cylindrical structure in matte black form a combination that fits well with contemporary interiors without being overly eye-catching. This version includes a multiple ceiling rose and a single light point.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its products are found in homes, hotels, and commercial spaces. The brand works with external designers to develop collections with their own identity.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, a ceiling box with an available electrical connection is required. The multiple ceiling rose is fixed directly to the ceiling, so the surface must be solid and in good condition. It is recommended that the installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, as it involves connections to the mains. The suspension cable allows the height of the lamp to be adjusted according to the space. Before starting any work, make sure to cut the power supply from the main switch.

The metal shade can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. If there is dust accumulation, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish. Do not clean the luminaire with the light on or immediately after switching it off, as the components may be hot. This lamp is designed for indoor use.

Design and use

The KOMBO lamp has a recognisable silhouette: an oval metal shade in grey suspended from a cylindrical structure in matte black. The assembly is compact, with a height of 210 mm and a diameter of 120 mm. It does not take up too much visual space, but it does create a clear focal point when hung from the ceiling.

Metal is the main material in both the structure and the shade. It provides solidity without adding excessive weight. At nearly 1.7 kg, the luminaire has a real physical presence without being heavy for the ceiling. The matte black finish on the upper part contrasts with the grey of the shade, creating a subtle visual difference that gives character to the whole.

The oval shape of the shade is not just an aesthetic decision. It directs light downward in a concentrated manner, making it a practical option for illuminating a dining table or a work area in the kitchen. In the living room, it can function as a main light point or as a complement to other sources. In the bedroom, a pendant lamp of this type replaces bedside tables or wall lights without taking up surface space.

The version with a multiple ceiling rose allows the luminaire to be installed even when the ceiling box is not perfectly centred. The ceiling rose covers the connection area and provides a neat finish. This constructive detail is useful in renovations where the original wiring is not in the ideal location.

The KOMBO pendant lamp accepts an E27 LED bulb of up to 15W. The E27 socket is the most common on the market, making it easy to find the right bulb. The voltage range between 100V and 240V makes it compatible with electrical installations in different countries.

As for its fit with the surroundings, the combination of matte black and metallic grey adapts well to spaces with neutral tones. It works alongside light wood furniture, white walls, or in darker environments where the metal provides contrast. It can also be integrated into a well-ventilated bathroom or a hallway, provided conditions allow. It does not have a markedly vintage or industrial style, although its clean geometry can complement both. Nor is it a typical Nordic piece, but it fits into that type of interior without creating dissonance.

The KOMBO series features different sizes and finishes that share the same formal logic. This allows several lights from the same family to be used on the ceiling of a larger space while maintaining visual coherence. Two or three pendants of different sizes above a long table can replace a linear luminaire with a more dynamic result.

Questions and answers

Does the multiple ceiling rose allow the lamp to be installed even if the ceiling box is not centred?

Yes. The multiple ceiling rose is designed to provide more flexibility when fixing to the ceiling, which is useful when the ceiling box is not in the exact position you need.

Does the oval shade direct light in a specific direction?

The oval shade directs light mainly downward. This makes it more efficient for illuminating surfaces such as a table or a countertop than for illuminating an entire environment in a diffuse manner.

Is the E27 socket compatible with standard LED bulbs on the market?

Yes. The E27 socket is the most common type in domestic lighting. It accepts standard LED bulbs of up to 15W, which are easily found in any lighting or hardware store.
