Overview

The DOME S lamp is a suspension luminaire designed for interior spaces where a balance between functionality and aesthetics is sought. It hangs from the ceiling and projects a soft light downward, creating a calm atmosphere without overwhelming the environment. It is a suitable option for the dining room, living room, or bedroom, where lighting needs to accompany without disturbing.

The design is by Faro Lab, the creative team of the FARO brand. The oval shape of the shade is reminiscent of classic lamps, but resolved with clean lines and no unnecessary details. The satin black finish gives cohesion to the whole and adapts well to contemporary interiors without feeling forced.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products are designed for both domestic use and contract projects, with attention to detail and durability.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the pendant lamp, check that the ceiling point where you are going to fix it is solid and prepared to support the weight. The canopy must be well anchored. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to hire an electrician. Make sure to cut the power before any handling and that the E27 LED bulb you use does not exceed 15 W of power.

To clean the lamp, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the satin black finish. Always turn off and unplug before cleaning. Do not expose the luminaire to direct humidity, as it is not designed for wet areas such as the bathroom.

Design and use

The DOME S starts from a simple idea: an oval shape that hangs from the ceiling and concentrates the light exactly where it is needed. The shade has a recognizable silhouette, inspired by classic suspension lights, but refined down to the essentials only. There are no ornaments, no distracting elements. The result is a lamp that fits in many contexts without demanding the spotlight.

The body is made of steel with a satin black finish. It is a material that holds up well over time and does not lose its presence with use. Satin black, unlike gloss, avoids annoying reflections and maintains a uniform appearance. The oval shape of the shade distributes the light in a balanced way, without creating overly dark areas around it.

In the dining room, a pendant lamp above the table creates a clear visual focal point. The DOME S works well in that position: its diameter of 234 mm is suitable for medium-sized tables, and the light it projects is focused enough to illuminate the surface without invading the rest of the space. In the living room, placed above a coffee table or in a reading corner, it provides a more intimate light source than a conventional ceiling lamp.

In the kitchen, a pendant lamp above the island or work area helps to visually separate that space from the rest of the room. The DOME S, with its clean and modern profile, integrates well in contemporary-style kitchens or those that combine materials such as wood or iron in the furniture. The satin black easily connects with handles, taps, or other dark finishes commonly used in modern kitchens.

For the bedroom, the adjustable cable height allows the lamp's position to be adapted to the space. Placed as a bedside light, in a double installation on both sides of the bed, it takes up less space than a table lamp and gives the room a tidier appearance. The dimmable light allows the intensity to be adjusted according to the moment: higher for reading, lower to create a relaxing atmosphere before sleeping.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb allows for the choice of the color temperature that best suits each use. A warm-toned bulb reinforces the cozy atmosphere in the living room or bedroom. A neutral-toned one can be more functional in the kitchen or work spaces. As the bulb is not included, the choice remains open.

The DOME S can also be installed in contract environments: restaurants, cafés, or office spaces with a refined design. Its steel construction makes it durable for continuous use, and the satin black finish is easy to keep clean. Several pendant lights installed in a row create a linear effect that visually organizes elongated spaces.

The luminaire is suspended from the ceiling by a cable, which allows the height to be adjusted according to the needs of the space. In rooms with high ceilings, more cable can be left so that the lamp is at a height closer to the use plane. In spaces with low ceilings, it is shortened so that it does not interfere with movement.

Questions and answers

Does the DOME S lamp include an E27 LED bulb?

No, the bulb is not included. The luminaire is compatible with an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W, which is purchased separately.

Is the 234 mm diameter suitable for placing above a standard dining table?

For a table for one or two people, it is an appropriate size. For larger tables, it can be used in combination with other pendant lights to adequately cover the surface.

Can the DOME S be installed in the bathroom?

It is not suitable for wet areas such as the bathroom. As it does not have specific protection against humidity, it must be installed in dry interior spaces.
