Overview

The WHIZZ lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for interior spaces where design matters as much as function. It hangs from the ceiling with a multiple canopy that groups three light points, allowing light to be distributed evenly across large areas. The combination of black and satin gold gives it a defined character without feeling overdone.

This pendant lamp fits well in a living room, dining room, or bedroom where a clear visual focal point is desired. The contrast of finishes makes it stand out without forcing the style of the space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its products combine original design with selected materials, and the WHIZZ family, created by Christoph Friedrich Wagner, is a good example of that balance between trend and functionality.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this pendant lamp, check that the ceiling has adequate anchoring to support the weight of the assembly. The multiple canopy is fixed directly to the ceiling, so it is advisable to locate a solid point, preferably over a beam or with an expansion anchor in the case of a plaster ceiling. Since this is a 3-light version, the wiring must be prepared for a centralized connection. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is strongly recommended to hire an electrician. Keep in mind that the lamp does not include a bulb, so you will need to purchase three E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W each separately.

For maintenance, clean the steel surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the black finish or alter the golden tone. Always disconnect the power before cleaning or handling the lamp. Do not touch the bulbs when they are on or recently switched off.

Design and use

The WHIZZ lamp was created as part of a family of luminaires designed by Christoph Friedrich Wagner with a clear idea: to create pieces that have their own presence without relying on complex shapes. The combination of matte black and satin gold responds to a decorative trend that has been established for several years in contemporary interior design, where the contrast between dark and warm metallic tones creates environments with visual depth.

The body of this pendant lamp is made of steel, a material that provides solidity and durability. The black finish covers the structure cleanly, while the gold detail acts as a counterpoint. This combination works especially well in spaces where there are other metallic elements, such as furniture handles, frames, or fittings in similar tones. It is not a lamp that needs support to stand out, but it does appreciate an environment that does not compete with it chaotically.

This ceiling luminaire is available in a three-light version with a multiple canopy, meaning that the three pendants extend from a single anchoring point on the ceiling. This arrangement is ideal for a long dining table, a kitchen island, or any area where concentrated but somewhat spread illumination is desired. In a living room, it can work as a central focal point if the space has ceilings with enough height to make use of the 1760 mm total drop.

In a generously sized bedroom, this lamp can replace one or more wall lights, especially if the bed is centered under the light point. The scale of the assembly — with three hanging arms — occupies the space visually in a proportionate way. In a smaller room, it is worth carefully evaluating the dimensions before installing it, so that the drop does not feel excessive.

In a kitchen or bathroom, its use is possible as long as it is installed in areas away from direct humidity and without exposure to splashing. In these cases, it is essential to observe safety distances from water sources.

The lamp accepts E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W per light point, allowing controlled consumption without sacrificing effective illumination. The voltage range of 100V–240V makes it compatible with electrical installations in different countries, without the need for adapters.

The oval design of the pieces that make up the WHIZZ family adds softness to a structure that, given its materials and colors, could otherwise feel more rigid. This oval shape balances the assembly and makes it more versatile when combining it with different furniture styles, from the most understated to proposals with more personality. In a space with industrial design finishes or with exposed iron elements, this lamp fits naturally. It also works in more modern and clean interiors, where the black-gold contrast provides the only touch of character.

Questions and answers

Does the multiple canopy allow the distance between the three pendants to be adjusted?

The multiple canopy is designed to fix the three pendants from a single point on the ceiling. The spacing between them depends on the canopy design and cannot be adjusted independently. Before installing it, it is recommended to review the dimensions of the assembly to confirm it fits well in the intended space.

Is the total height of 1760 mm fixed or can it be reduced?

The indicated height corresponds to the maximum drop of the cable or rod from the ceiling to the lowest point of the lamp. In many pendant models it is possible to reduce the cable length during installation. If you need to adjust the height, consult the manufacturer's instructions before proceeding.

Is the satin gold finish resistant to everyday use?

The satin gold finish is applied to the steel structure and is intended for normal interior use. It is not designed to withstand exposure to intense humidity or aggressive cleaning products. With basic maintenance, such as cleaning with a dry cloth, it retains its appearance well over time.
