Overview

The STOOD lamp, from the LÚCID collection for FARO, is a suspension luminaire designed for spaces where light not only illuminates but also becomes part of the atmosphere. It is fixed to the ceiling and distributes light evenly across the surface, making it especially useful in living rooms, dining rooms, or everyday-use areas where time is regularly spent.

The combination of a cherry wood shade and a steel structure in a matte black finish is not common. The wood adds visual warmth, while the metal gives the structure solidity. The result is a pendant lamp that does not go unnoticed, yet is not excessive either.

FARO is a brand with a long track record in the lighting sector. Its products are designed with criteria, considering both formal appearance and real functionality within the home.

Installation and specifications

To install this ceiling lamp, a previously installed ceiling light point is required. Given the dimensions of the piece, it is advisable to verify the available clearance height in the room before placing the order. The suspension cable can be adjusted according to the height of the space. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, as it involves connection to the electrical mains.

The cherry wood surface should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid the use of abrasive products or solvents that could alter the finish. The matte black steel structure can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Do not use the lamp with bulbs exceeding 15 W of power. Always switch off the power before changing the bulb or carrying out any maintenance task.

Design and use

The STOOD lamp starts from a clear idea: to build a pendant luminaire that has visual presence without relying on ornate forms. The oval cherry wood shade occupies the center of the piece. That oval format is not only an aesthetic decision, but also a functional one, as it allows light to be distributed in a balanced way in different directions without creating marked shadow areas.

Cherry is a wood with a warm tone, with subtle grains that change depending on the angle of observation. It does not have the uniform appearance of a lacquered or painted material. It has texture, it has life. That makes it an element that contributes something akin to the warmth of the natural within a domestic space. The oval shade in this material transforms the lamp into a piece that integrates effortlessly into environments with wood on the floor, in the furniture, or in door frames.

The matte black steel structure serves a contrasting function. Black is a color that does not compete, but it does define. Against the warmth of the cherry wood, the metallic finish introduces a more contemporary note, closer to what might be associated with a modern or even industrial style without quite reaching it. It is a combination that works well in an open-plan design kitchen, in a living room with clean-lined furniture, or in a dining room where a clear focal point above the table is sought.

The total height of the lamp, with the cable extended to its maximum, reaches 2470 mm. The length of the oval shade reaches 1510 mm. This makes it a large-format piece, designed for spacious rooms where there is enough space to appreciate it. In a generously sized bedroom it can work as a replacement for central lighting without feeling oppressive. In a bathroom it would not be a suitable option due to the dimensions and humidity conditions.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb is a practical advantage. LED allows for low energy consumption and an adjustable color temperature depending on the type of bulb chosen. A warmer light accentuates the tone of the cherry wood. A neutral or cool light completely changes the atmosphere and brings the piece closer to a more functional register. The bulb is not included, which allows it to be chosen according to the preferences of each space.

As for integration with the surroundings, this ceiling luminaire adapts well to spaces that combine wood with metal, or that mix Nordic design elements with more industrial touches. It is not a rustic lamp, although the wood might lead one to think so. Nor is it strictly modern in the most minimalist sense of the term. It is a design piece that has its own character and that fits wherever the interior designer or owner wishes to give it prominence. The light it produces is soft and diffuse, without direct glare points.
