Overview

LUMINA 600 by FARO is a horizontal recessed ceiling lamp designed for those seeking integrated lighting without the fixture drawing too much attention. It is installed in the ceiling without leaving visible frames, giving the space a clean and tidy appearance. It is an option that works well in living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, or bedrooms, especially when the ceiling is low and there is no room for a bulky pendant lamp.

The 12W module with a color temperature of 2700K provides warm light, similar to that of a traditional bulb. This type of lighting does not strain the eyes and is suitable for spaces where time is spent at home: reading, eating, or simply resting.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior lighting. Their products stand out for combining functionality with a careful finish, without falling into decorative excess.

Installation and specifications

To install this ceiling lamp correctly, a recessed opening in the ceiling with dimensions appropriate to the module size is required. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, as it requires connection to a 220V–240V mains supply. The LED light source is not included, so it is advisable to have it ready before installation. Before any electrical work, make sure to cut the power supply from the main panel.

The opal PC diffuser is durable and easy to clean. For routine maintenance, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Do not use abrasive products or solvents that could damage the transparent surface of the body. Avoid direct contact with water in areas without adequate IP protection for humid environments.

Design and use

The LUMINA 600 lamp has an oval, elongated shape that sets it apart from the more common round recessed lights. That oval silhouette, combined with the transparent finish of the body, gives it a subtle presence: it is there, but it does not interrupt the ceiling line. When the light is on, the opal diffuser distributes the illumination evenly, without creating bright spots or shadowed areas.

The transparent body allows the interior structure of the lamp to be seen, giving it a design touch without appearing overdone. It is a detail that stands out up close but does not distract from the overall picture. This type of finish fits well with modern interiors that seek visual lightness, as well as with more neutral spaces that do not want to commit to a specific style.

The 2700K temperature produces warm light that pairs well with moments of rest. In a bedroom, that warmth makes the atmosphere more relaxed. In the dining room, it encourages a calm ambiance during meals. In the kitchen, it illuminates without feeling cold or harsh. It can also work in the bathroom if installation conditions allow, or in hallways where visual continuity with the rest of the space is desired.

The construction of just 34 mm in height and 30 mm in depth allows it to be recessed into ceilings with little thickness. This makes it a practical solution for renovations where the false ceiling has limited space. Despite its low profile, the lamp is 635 mm long, giving it a real presence in the space without the need to install multiple light points.

With no visible frame, the transition between the lamp and the ceiling is almost imperceptible. This makes it easy to integrate into painted ceilings, wood cladding, or other types of surfaces, without the lighting element breaking the continuity of the finish.

The lamp can be used individually as the main light source in small rooms, or combined with other units to create a line of lights along a hallway or a larger space. That possibility for composition is part of what makes this model useful: it accommodates both single installation and series arrangement, adapting to different needs without requiring additional accessories.

The weight of 1.67 kg is manageable for a luminaire of these dimensions, simplifying ceiling mounting without the need for special reinforcements in most cases.

Questions and answers

What type of LED light source is compatible with LUMINA 600?

The lamp uses SMD LED technology, but the light source is not included in the package. Before purchasing the LED module, it is advisable to verify that it is compatible with a maximum power of 60W and a voltage of 220V–240V.

What is the minimum thickness of the false ceiling required for recessed installation?

The lamp has a depth of 30 mm and a total height of 34 mm. This means that the installation opening in the ceiling must have at least those dimensions for the mounting to be correct and safe.

Is the oval PC diffuser resistant to impact or heat?

The diffuser is made of polycarbonate, a material that offers good mechanical resistance compared to glass. It withstands the typical operating temperatures of an LED luminaire without deforming or losing its properties.
