Overview

The FARO LOOP LED lamp is a suspension luminaire designed for interior spaces where detail matters. It hangs from the ceiling and works well both in a large dining room and in a kitchen with good clear height. The ash wood shade gives it a warm character that balances the usual coldness of matte black metal. It is not a lamp that goes unnoticed, but it does not compete with the rest of the space either — it simply fits.

The design is the work of Estudi Ribaudí, a studio with a recognised track record in designer lighting. FARO, the brand behind this series, has been developing luminaires for the European residential market for decades. The LOOP LED series is one of their most balanced works: clean form, solid materials and a careful finish.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the pendant lamp, check that the ceiling hook or box where it will be fixed can support at least twice the weight of the assembly. Make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel before starting any connection. The suspension cable has an adjustable length — adjust it before permanently fixing the lamp to the ceiling. For low ceilings, take into account the total height of 1290 mm and calculate the free margin to the floor.

To clean the ash wood shade, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid products with solvents or abrasives that may alter the natural finish of the wood. The matte black steel body is cleaned with a soft cloth without excessive moisture. Do not wet the interior of the luminaire or expose the lamp to environments with sustained high humidity.

Design and use

The LOOP LED luminaire is distinguished by its oval silhouette, which combines a matte black steel ring with an ash wood shade. That oval shape is not just an aesthetic device — it defines the way light is distributed in the space. The translucent PMMA diffuser softens the LED emission and prevents direct glare. What reaches the table or the floor is a uniform, warm light at 2700K that is easy on the eyes.

Ash wood has a natural texture with a defined grain. In a room with neutral tones or natural materials — ceramics, linen, exposed concrete — this detail takes centre stage without being excessive. In a living room with light-coloured wooden furniture, the ash shade acts as an element of visual continuity. In a Nordic or minimalist-style kitchen, the matte black steel contrasts well with white or grey fronts.

The assembly weighs less than two kilograms, which makes installation on conventional ceilings straightforward without the need for additional reinforcements. The 520 mm diameter makes it a lamp with a real presence above a standard dining table, without visually occupying more than is appropriate. The oval silhouette, seen from below, has a balance that few pendant lights in this range achieve.

This luminaire works equally well in a bedroom with a centred double bed as in a dining room with a rectangular table. In the bedroom, placed above the bed, it creates a soft light zone without the harshness of a spotlight. In the dining room, it defines the table area and gives the space a human scale. It can also be used in a kitchen with a central island, where the oval shape works well with the geometry of the furniture.

For those renovating their living room, the combination of wood and black metal fits with trends that mix the organic with the industrial without going to extremes. It is not a vintage lamp nor a purely modern one — it has a balance that makes it compatible with different decorating styles. The colour temperature of 2700K reproduces a light close to incandescent, which makes natural materials such as ash wood look their best.

The integrated SMD LED is already included and has a power of 18 W, suitable for medium-sized spaces. Compatibility with voltages between 100V and 240V means it works without adapters in any standard European installation.

Questions and answers

Does the pendant lamp include a light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes an integrated 18 W SMD LED light source. It is not necessary to purchase any additional bulb.

Is the oval ash shade solid wood or a finish applied over another material?

The shade is made from natural ash wood. Ash is the main material of the diffuser, not a coating over another substrate.

Is the total height of 1290 mm fixed or can the suspension cable be adjusted?

The indicated height of 1290 mm corresponds to the maximum length of the assembly with the cable fully extended. The suspension cable can be adjusted to adapt the lamp to different ceiling heights.
