Overview

The CONGA lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for indoor spaces where style and functionality go hand in hand. With its steel structure in black and papyrus shade in white beige, this hanging lamp fits well in a spacious living room, a quiet bedroom, or a dining room where a light source with its own character is desired.

The CONGA collection was designed by Faro Lab, the internal creative team of FARO, a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their products are designed to last and to integrate naturally into different types of environments, from private homes to hospitality projects such as restaurants, hotels, or collective-use spaces.

This version of the lamp comes with a plug and five meters of cable, meaning it does not require a fixed electrical installation. The hanging hook is included. It is a practical option if you want to change the lighting without construction work or the intervention of an electrician.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This pendant lamp is fixed to the ceiling using the included hook. Since it comes with a plug and a five-meter cable, it does not require a recessed electrical connection. Simply choose the point on the ceiling where you want to place the hook, hang the lamp, and plug the cable into a standard power outlet. Make sure the ceiling support is firm and capable of holding the weight of the lamp. If you have doubts about the resistance of the ceiling material, consult a professional before installing.

Use and care. Clean the papyrus shade with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical products or excess water, as they can damage the material. The black steel body can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Do not use the lamp with bulbs of higher wattage than indicated. Before cleaning or changing the bulb, always unplug the cable from the power outlet.

Design and use

The shade of this pendant lamp is made of papyrus, a material that diffuses light softly, without creating glare or overly dark areas. The light that passes through it has a natural warmth, similar to that given by a fabric or rice paper shade. It is the kind of light that does not tire the eyes and makes a space look more welcoming effortlessly. The white beige tone of the diffuser pairs well with light-colored walls, natural wood, or neutral-toned elements.

The body of the lamp is made of black lacquered steel. It is a clean and durable finish that does not draw attention to itself but instead serves as a frame for the shade. In a living room with dark or metallic furniture, the black body integrates effortlessly. In a lighter space, it creates a subtle contrast that gives character to the overall look.

With a diameter of 500 mm, the shade is generously sized. It is not a small corner lamp, but a piece that can be the central lighting point of a medium-sized room. In a dining room, placed above the table, it covers the work area well and creates a distinct atmosphere from the rest of the space. In a bedroom, it can function as the main light when combined with a warm-color-temperature LED bulb.

The oval shape of the shade is one of the features that visually define this piece. An oval lamp has a different presence from round or square ones: it occupies the space more softly, without sharp edges, and is visually balanced from any angle. This oval shape also makes the lamp easier to integrate into rooms with normal ceiling heights, where an overly geometric piece can look forced.

The five meters of cable provide a lot of flexibility. In spaces with high ceilings, you can let the lamp hang lower and gain visual drama. In lower ceilings, you gather the cable to the height you need. This possibility of adjustment means that the same pendant lamp works in very different situations without losing aesthetic coherence.

The CONGA collection is also designed for hospitality projects. In that context, a lamp that installs without construction work and operates with a plug is a real advantage: it can be relocated, replaced, or expanded without technical intervention. In spaces such as reception areas, rest zones, or collective dining rooms, this type of modern luminaire adds atmosphere without complicating the installation.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb allows you to choose from a wide variety of options in terms of color temperature and luminous flux. A warm LED will create a more intimate atmosphere; a neutral light one, more functional clarity. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you can choose the one that best suits the use you intend to give it.

Questions and answers

Does the CONGA lamp require a fixed electrical installation in the ceiling?

No. This version of the pendant lamp comes with a plug and five meters of cable, so it simply plugs into a standard power outlet. You only need to fix the included hook to the ceiling to hang it.

What type of bulb does this lamp accept and what is the maximum wattage?

The lamp is compatible with an E27 base LED bulb, with a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

Is the oval papyrus shade resistant to daily use?
