Overview

SAVOY is a floor lamp designed for indoor spaces where light needs to do more than simply illuminate. It is an object that makes its presence felt in the room, but without imposing itself. It works well in a living room, a bedroom, or any corner where you want to add a light source with visual presence.

What sets this lamp apart is its upper ring, where light is reflected upward and to the sides, creating a soft effect on the ceiling and walls. The black textile shade filters the main beam, while the ring works above it, generating that reflection which gives the piece its character. This is not a minor detail: it is what makes SAVOY recognizable among other floor lamps on the market.

The structure is made of steel with a matte black finish. Discreet, unadorned, with a clean profile that fits into modern interiors without feeling cold or impersonal. It was designed by Isaac Piñeiro for FARO, a Spanish brand with a track record in interior and exterior lighting, known for combining functionality with careful design.

Installation and specifications

Installing this floor lamp requires no special tools or intervention in the ceiling or wall. It is placed directly on the floor and connected to the power supply via a standard plug. Simply choose the right spot, make sure the cable reaches a nearby outlet, and assemble the parts according to the included instructions. Weighing less than two kilos, it is easy to move and reposition if the room layout changes.

The textile shade should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without abrasive products or solvents. The steel structure can be wiped with a soft cloth to remove dust. It is not recommended to install bulbs exceeding 15 W. The lamp does not include a bulb, so an E27 LED screw-base bulb must be purchased separately before use.

Design and use

SAVOY stands 1600 mm tall, making it a floor lamp with a real presence in the space. It does not go unnoticed, but it does not compete with the furniture either. Its square base of 420 x 420 mm provides stability on any type of floor, whether laminate, tile, or wood.

The black textile shade gives body to the central part of the piece and works in contrast with the metal ring at the top. That ring is not merely a decorative element: it redirects part of the light upward, toward the ceiling, generating a reflection that warms the atmosphere without the need to add more light sources. It is a simple device that produces an effect difficult to achieve with other conventional floor lamps.

The matte black finish of the steel does not reflect light directly, which helps the lamp blend in without drawing too much attention during the day. At night, when it is switched on, the interplay between the shade and the ring makes it the natural visual focal point of the corner where it is placed.

In a living room it works well next to a sofa or armchair, creating a reading or relaxation area with its own light. In a bedroom it can replace the bedside table lamp or complement the general ceiling lighting. It also fits in a dining room if you want to add ambient light without relying solely on the central pendant.

In rooms with wooden floors, the matte black of the structure creates a clean, balanced contrast. Against light-colored walls, the reflection from the upper ring is especially visible. In interiors with a Nordic style or a predominance of natural materials, SAVOY acts as a dark counterpoint that visually organizes the space.

It is not a lamp exclusively for large living rooms. It works equally well in a hallway with some depth, in a large bathroom with enough space, or in a medium-sized dining room where an additional light source with character is desired. In longer hallways it can be placed at one end to visually guide toward another area of the home.

The design signed by Isaac Piñeiro for FARO has that coherence you notice when something has been well thought out: every element serves a function, and the result is a modern lamp that needs no explanation to be understood.

Questions and answers

Does the upper ring of SAVOY emit light directly or does it only reflect the light from the shade?

The ring has no light source of its own. It collects and redirects part of the light emitted by the E27 bulb installed in the lamp, projecting it upward and creating a reflection on the ceiling. The effect depends on the type and wattage of the bulb used.

Can the SAVOY floor lamp be used in a bathroom or a hallway?

Yes, as long as the space has enough free floor area and an accessible power outlet. In the bathroom it is recommended to keep it away from splash zones, as it is not designed for environments with high humidity.

What type of bulb does this lamp accept and what is the maximum wattage?

It accepts an E27 LED screw-base bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. It is recommended not to exceed that wattage to ensure correct operation and product safety.
