Design and use

The SAMBA lamp stands 153 centimetres tall, making it a piece with a real presence within the space. It does not go unnoticed, but it does not compete with the rest of the furniture either. Its base rests on the floor with stability, and from there the steel structure rises up to the green ribbon shade, which directs light downward or to the sides depending on how it is oriented.

The green colour of the shade is one of the most defining elements of this lamp. It is not a neutral or generically decorative green: it has a character of its own. In a living room with natural tones, light wood or beige textiles, the shade acts as a counterpoint that brings the whole together. In a dining room with a dark table and upholstered chairs, it adds a detail that does not feel superfluous. The light emitted through the shade takes on a warm, diffused temperature, creating a more intimate atmosphere than general ceiling lighting.

The matte black steel body is sober and resistant. It has no distracting shine or finishes that age poorly. As for the general lighting of the space, SAMBA is not intended to replace a ceiling lamp in a large room. It works best as ambient or accent lighting, in combination with other sources. In an adapted bathroom, it could be placed outside the wet area if the space design allows it, although it is most commonly found in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms or hallways.
