Overview

The MAMBO floor lamp by FARO is a piece designed for those seeking warm lighting and a touch of character in the home interior. With its steel structure in a matte black finish and its rattan shade, it fits well in living rooms, bedrooms, and spaces where artificial light needs to create a calm atmosphere without feeling cold or excessive.

It is a lamp that does not go unnoticed, but neither does it compete with the rest of the furniture. The combination of rattan with matte black gives it a balance between the modern and the natural. It is also an option that works very well in hospitality projects—boutique hotels, tourist apartments, reception spaces—where decorative detail matters as much as functionality.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. The brand's creative laboratory, Faro Lab, develops collections like MAMBO with both domestic and professional use in mind. Each piece combines contemporary design with carefully selected materials.

Installation and specifications

Installing this floor lamp requires no intervention in the wall or ceiling. It is placed directly on the floor and connected to the electrical network via its cable. It is advisable to ensure that the power outlet is close to the area where the piece will be placed, to avoid cables running visibly from one end of the room to the other. No special tools are required for basic assembly.

Rattan is a natural material that responds well indoors, but it should not be exposed to prolonged moisture. To clean the shade, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The steel body can be cleaned with a soft cloth. It is recommended not to use abrasive products on any of the surfaces. The bulb is not included: it is necessary to purchase separately an E27 LED bulb compatible with the indicated voltage.

Design and use

The MAMBO collection was born from Faro Lab with a clear intention: to offer a floor lamp that combines materials of natural origin with a clean metal structure. The result is a piece that moves comfortably between the modern and the organic, without falling into either extreme.

The rattan shade is the element that visually defines this lamp. Rattan has the ability to filter light in a particular way: it does not block it entirely, but lets it pass through in small strips, generating a soft pattern on nearby walls. In a living room or bedroom, that effect of filtered light can completely change the atmosphere of the space as evening falls.

The steel structure in matte black gives it solidity without adding visual weight. Matte black does not reflect, does not distract, it simply supports. At 1458 mm in height, the lamp has a real presence in the space, but without feeling bulky. The 450 mm of length and depth ensure stability on the floor without the need for anchoring.

In the living room, a lamp of this type works well in corners next to a sofa or armchair, creating a reading area with warm light independent of the general ceiling lighting. In the bedroom, it can replace the bedside lamp when space allows, providing a more enveloping illumination. In a guest room, it adds character without requiring a fixed installation.

Although it is not designed for bathrooms or kitchens, it can be used in wide hallways or transitional spaces where a warm, decorative light point is desired. In a dining room, placed next to a sideboard or in a side corner, it complements the main lighting without interfering with it. Also in a dining room with differentiated areas, it can help to delimit zones within the same space.

In terms of stylistic compatibility, rattan pairs well with light woods, wicker, and natural fibers. Wood in honey or oak tones combined with the rattan shade forms a combination that feels balanced and welcoming. The matte black of the body allows the lamp to work in darker interiors or with furniture in neutral colors without creating a harsh contrast.

For hospitality projects, MAMBO offers an alternative to more conventional lighting solutions. In a boutique hotel or apartment with personality, this type of floor lamp adds a level of detail that guests perceive without necessarily identifying it. Lighting in those spaces is part of the experience, and a piece like this contributes to making the stay feel more carefully considered.

The net weight of 1.67 kg makes it easy to move from one room to another if the use of the space changes over time. It requires no definitive commitment to a specific location.

Questions and answers

Does the rattan shade allow the bulb to be seen from the outside?

The rattan shade filters light but is not completely opaque. Depending on the type of E27 bulb installed, the filament may be visible through the weave. If a more diffused result is preferred, it is advisable to choose a bulb with an opal or matte finish.

Is it possible to use this floor lamp in a hallway with little space?

With 450 mm of depth and length, the lamp occupies a moderate footprint. In a narrow hallway it may be too much, but in a medium-width hallway or a wide entrance hall it fits well pushed against a wall, without blocking passage.

Does the 100V–240V voltage mean it can be used in different countries?

Yes. The voltage range 100V–240V covers the electrical standards of most countries, so the lamp can be connected without an adapter in Spain and in many other international markets.
