LOOP LED is a floor lamp designed by Estudi Ribaudí for FARO. It fits well in a living room, a bedroom, or any corner where ambient light is desired without resorting to ceiling lighting. Its matte black metal structure and ash wood shade form a combination that feels warm and orderly at the same time.

The base has a characteristic right angle: the arm rises vertically from the base and then bends to surround the shade. This gives it a recognizable silhouette, different from the usual. The LED light source is integrated and dimmable, so the intensity can be adjusted according to the time of day or the atmosphere desired.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products combine design criteria with selected materials, and LOOP LED is a good example of that line.

Installation and specifications

This floor lamp does not require fixed installation or connection to the home's wiring. It plugs directly into a standard outlet. Before placing it, it is advisable to choose a spot near an outlet and make sure the cable is not in areas with foot traffic. The round base offers stability on smooth floors or carpets, but it is recommended not to place it in areas where it could be knocked or easily displaced.

To clean the steel body, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The ash wood shade can be cleaned with a soft cloth, without harsh products or excess water. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned with a damp cloth, avoiding scrubbers or abrasive products that could scratch the surface. The light source should not be handled while the lamp is connected to power.

Design and use

The LOOP LED series starts from a simple idea: a steel structure that not only supports the shade, but surrounds it. The metal arm ends in a curve that embraces the ash wood shade, and that detail gives it a character of its own. It is not a conventional floor lamp. It has something of a functional sculpture, a piece that makes its presence felt in the space even when it is off.

Ash wood is a material with a fine grain and light color that adds warmth without feeling overdone. Combined with matte black steel, the result is a floor lamp that works well in modern interiors, but also in spaces with natural elements, textures, or neutral tones. It clashes with almost nothing: it integrates easily alongside dark wood furniture, grey or white upholstery, or cement and stone surfaces.

In the living room, this floor lamp can be placed next to the sofa to create a point of warm light that complements the general ceiling lighting. In the dining room, it works as supplementary light in a corner, especially in spaces where overhead lighting is too direct. In the bedroom, a lamp like this allows reading or creating atmosphere without turning on all the room's lighting.

The color temperature of 2700K produces a warm light, similar to that of a classic incandescent bulb. This tone promotes relaxation and is perceived well in spaces where quiet time is spent. It is not the right light for detailed work, but it is suitable for setting the mood, reading calmly, or accompanying an after-dinner gathering in the dining room.

Dimming is another point to consider. Being able to lower the light without changing the lamp or adding accessories means this floor lamp adapts to different moments within the same space. At night, with low intensity, it creates a different atmosphere than at dusk with more light on.

LOOP LED also appears in proposals for hotels and space restoration projects. That makes sense: it is a lamp with its own presence, which does not need to be accompanied by anything special to stand out, and which holds up well in environments where style matters as much as functionality. In a wide hallway or a reception area, this floor lamp adds character without overloading the atmosphere.

The height of 1250 mm makes it a lamp that projects light at the right level to illuminate a reading area or a living room corner without being too low or too high. The arm length of 650 mm allows the light to reach somewhat further forward relative to the base, which is useful for illuminating an armchair or a specific area without moving the base from where it rests.

As for weight, at just over six kilos, the floor lamp is stable and does not move easily. This is important if there are children or pets at home, although it is always advisable to keep this in mind when choosing its location.

Questions and answers

Can the ash wood shade darken or warp from the heat of the lamp?

The 6W SMD LED light source generates very little heat compared to traditional bulbs, so the ash wood is not exposed to temperatures that could affect its appearance or shape with normal use.

Does the translucent PMMA diffuser allow the light source to be seen directly or does it distribute the light?

The translucent PMMA diffuser spreads the light without allowing the emission point to be seen directly, which prevents glare and produces softer, more uniform illumination over the area where the floor lamp is placed.

Does dimming require an external dimmer or is it integrated into the lamp?

The light source is dimmable according to the manufacturer's specifications. To confirm whether a compatible external dimmer is needed or whether dimming is direct, it is recommended to consult the documentation included in the packaging.
