Overview

The WINDSOR floor lamp by FARO is a luminaire designed to create a soft and welcoming atmosphere in the spaces where you spend most of your time. Its large linen shade distributes light in a diffuse manner, without bright spots or harsh shadows. It is a solid option when looking for ambient lighting in the living room, bedroom or dining room, without relying solely on ceiling light.

The matte white base and the off-white shade form a discreet combination that fits effortlessly into interiors of different styles. It does not impose its presence, but it does not go unnoticed either. It adds character without overloading the space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior lighting. Their products combine design criteria with quality materials, and this lamp reflects that way of working well.

Installation and specifications

No tools or special technical knowledge are needed to install this lamp. As it is a floor luminaire, simply place it on the floor, plug the cable into a standard outlet and fit the E27 LED bulb, which is not included. Before turning it on, make sure the bulb does not exceed the indicated 15 W. Choose a position where the cable is not in the middle of a walkway and where the linen shade is not in direct contact with surfaces or fabrics.

To clean the steel body, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The linen shade can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth, without chemicals or water. Do not leave the lamp on for many hours in a row with high-temperature bulbs. Avoid placing it in areas with high humidity, such as near an open window or sources of steam.

Design and use

The WINDSOR floor lamp has a calm presence in any room. The matte white steel body is thin and straight, which means it takes up virtually no visual space. All the attention goes to the shade: large, made of off-white linen, with a natural texture that filters the light and turns it into something warm and even.

Linen is a material that ages well. It does not lose its shape, does not deform under the heat of a low-energy bulb and provides that visual warmth that synthetic materials rarely achieve. In this case, the off-white tone softens the result even further: the light that comes through the shade is pleasant, without harshness.

In the living room, this lamp works very well next to a sofa or in a reading corner. The ambient lighting it generates does not tire the eyes and complements a main light source well. In the dining room, placed near a side table or to one side, it adds a layer of light that makes the space more welcoming during the afternoon and evening hours. In the bedroom, it offers an alternative to ceiling light, which is more direct and less relaxing. Turning on only the floor lamp before going to sleep creates a natural transition between the day and rest.

It also fits in a wide hallway, where a luminaire of this type can visually mark the path without the need to install additional light points. In that context, the large shade helps the light reach a larger surface area. The hallway gains warmth with little effort.

Although the finish is white, the texture of the linen and the shape of the shade connect well with styles that incorporate wood, wicker or natural materials. If your living room or bedroom has light wood furniture, the lamp will integrate without any problem. The matte white of the base also complements Nordic spaces well, where the colour white and organic materials coexist habitually.

The light it emits is ambient, not task lighting. It is not designed to illuminate a desk or to replace a ceiling lamp in a room with no other light sources. Its function is to complement, soften and add depth to the space. When combined with other sources, the result is layered lighting that makes any interior look more carefully considered.

The lamp's contained weight, less than two kilograms, makes it easy to move from one room to another as needed. It does not require any type of anchoring or fixed installation, so if you reorganise the space, the lamp adapts without complications.

Questions and answers

What type of bulb does this lamp require and what is the maximum permitted wattage?

It uses an E27 base bulb in LED format. The maximum permitted wattage is 15 W. The bulb is not included, so you will need to purchase it separately. Make sure not to exceed that wattage to avoid overloading the fitting.

Does the linen diffuser significantly affect the amount of light that reaches the room?

Linen is a material that filters light rather than blocking it. The large shade compensates for that filtering by distributing the illumination over a wide surface. The result is a diffuse and soft light, suitable for ambient lighting, not for tasks that require high light intensity.

Can this lamp be used in a bathroom or in spaces with humidity?

No. This lamp is designed for dry interiors. It does not have special protection against humidity, so it is not suitable for the bathroom or for areas where there may be frequent steam or condensation.
