Overview

• LUANG is a floor lamp designed by Faro Lab, the creative division of FARO, a local manufacturing brand with years of experience in interior lighting. This luminaire was born from observing how in Southeast Asia flat materials—papyrus and natural fibers—are transformed into objects of great formal complexity. The result is a lamp that combines a minimalist steel structure with an organic papyrus shade that has no inner frame: light passes through it completely, diffusing softly and enveloping the space.
• It is a natural choice for a living room, bedroom, or any corner where warm, understated light is desired. The camel-toned shade filters the illumination warmly, creating a more intimate atmosphere than a conventional lamp. Its height of 1530 mm allows it to stand out in the space without appearing bulky.

Installation and specifications

• The floor lamp rests directly on the ground, with no need for drilling or wall or ceiling anchors. Simply place it at the chosen spot and plug it into a standard power outlet. Weighing less than two kilograms, it is easy to move and reposition as the furniture arrangement changes. It is recommended to place it on a flat, stable surface, away from high-traffic areas to avoid accidental bumps to the papyrus shade.
• The shade is made of papyrus with no internal structure, a delicate material that requires specific care. To clean it, simply use a dry cloth or a soft brush to remove surface dust. Water, damp products, or aerosols should not be used directly on the papyrus. The black steel body can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. It is always recommended to use LED bulbs of up to 15 W with an E27 base, which generate less heat and extend the life of the materials.

Design and use

• The LUANG collection starts from a simple idea: that a functional object can have the same visual presence as a handcrafted piece. The papyrus shade, with no internal support, takes on an organic shape that shifts slightly with the light, as if it had a movement of its own. When the bulb is switched on, the camel-toned papyrus is illuminated in its entirety, with no dark areas or concentrations of brightness. The light it projects is warm and diffuse, the kind that makes a room feel more welcoming effortlessly.
• The contrast between the black steel structure and the papyrus shade is one of the most striking elements of this floor lamp. The metal is firm, geometric, almost invisible in its role as a support. The papyrus, on the other hand, is soft, irregular, full of texture. That tension between the industrial and the natural is what defines the character of LUANG within the FARO collection.
• In the living room, a lamp like this can work as a focal point next to a sofa or in a corner beside a bookshelf. Its height allows the light to reach a reading or conversation area without needing to rely on the general ceiling lighting. In the bedroom, the light it projects is dim enough to create a relaxed atmosphere before sleep, without being insufficient for moving around the room comfortably.
• It also fits well in a wide hallway where warmth is desired without installing anything on the wall or ceiling. A hallway with little natural light benefits greatly from a mid-to-high height light source that softens shadows. The LUANG floor lamp fulfills that role well without taking up too much floor space, given that its base dimensions are around 420 x 425 mm.
• Although the papyrus shade might seem delicate for certain spaces, its organic character pairs well with modern interiors with clean lines, Nordic-style settings, or decorations featuring natural materials such as wood, linen, or rattan. Next to a light wood piece of furniture, the camel tone of the shade creates a very coherent palette. In a space with more contrast—dark walls, concrete floors—the lamp acts as a warm counterpoint that balances the coolness of the materials.
• In the dining room, placed next to a sideboard or at one end of the table, it can complement the central lighting and add an additional layer of light that makes the space more livable during the afternoon or evening. It does not replace a ceiling lamp, but it does work well alongside one.
• Compatibility with voltages from 100V to 240V makes it suitable for use in different countries without additional adapters. The E27 base is one of the most common on the market, so finding a suitable LED bulb presents no difficulty.

Questions and answers

---

Does the LUANG papyrus shade have any internal support or frame to maintain its shape?

No. The shade is made solely from papyrus, with no internal structure. Its shape is the result of the material itself, which gives it that organic appearance and allows light to pass through it completely when the lamp is switched on.

Can I install this floor lamp in a room without a nearby power outlet, using an extension cord?

The lamp plugs into a standard power outlet. If an extension cord is used, it is recommended that it has adequate capacity and is certified. In any case, the cable should not be left in areas where people walk to avoid tripping.

Is the E27 bulb included with the lamp?

No, the light source is not included. It must be purchased separately. A LED bulb with an E27 base and a maximum power of 15 W is recommended.
