Overview

The DOLME is a surface-mounted ceiling light designed for interior lighting. It fixes directly to the wall and works well in spaces where a diffuse, enveloping light is desired, without complicated installations. It is a lamp that fits in the dining room, bedroom or kitchen, as well as in hallways or living areas where the ceiling is the focal point.

The flattened shape allows this lamp to integrate without drawing too much attention. It does not dominate the space, but it does not go unnoticed either. It is the kind of luminaire that, once installed, simply becomes part of the atmosphere. The design is the work of xJeR Studio, a studio with a clear approach: modern lamps should serve the space, not the other way around.

FARO is a brand with experience in developing home lighting solutions. The catalogue includes products ranging from the most neutral to the most distinctive style, designed for different types of home projects and different needs. The DOLME is a good example of that approach: functional, clean and adaptable.

Installation and specifications

For installation, make sure the wall can support the weight of the lamp and that the light point is in the correct position before fixing the body. It is advisable to cut the power from the electrical panel before starting. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to use an electrician. The fixing goes directly to the wall, without additional structures.

To clean the surface, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the matte white finish or the PMMA diffuser. Do not handle the lamp with the power connected.

Design and use

The DOLME has a square shape of 400 x 400 mm and only 70 mm in height. That low profile is what allows the lamp to sit flush against the wall without creating volume. In spaces where the ceiling is low or where a clean line of the surface is to be maintained, this type of luminaire makes real sense.

The body is made of steel with a matte white finish. It is a material that gives solidity to the structure and ensures that the lamp retains its shape over time. The matte white does not accumulate reflections or visible marks, which makes day-to-day maintenance easier. It is a discreet finish that works well with white, grey or neutral-toned walls, although it also contrasts well with darker surfaces.

The diffuser is made of PMMA with an opal finish. This material distributes light evenly, without brighter areas or shadows at the edges. The colour temperature is 3000K, a warm light that is perceived as close to traditional incandescent light. It is a tone that works especially well in bedrooms and dining rooms, where a more relaxed atmosphere is sought than in work areas.

The 24W SMD LED light source is already included. There is no need to purchase anything additional to get the lamp up and running. The consumption is moderate for a 400 mm surface, and LED technology guarantees a long service life without the need to replace the bulb frequently.

In the kitchen, the DOLME can work as general lighting if the space is not too large. In the bedroom, it provides a soft light that does not strain the eyes before sleeping. In a hallway or entrance hall, it adds presence without reducing visual space. In the dining room, the 3000K temperature creates a warm tone that complements meals well. It can also be used at the counter of an open kitchen or in the bar area of an integrated living room, where a more ambient than functional home light is desired.

The modern, compact design makes it compatible with Nordic, minimalist or contemporary-style interiors. Modern lights of this type integrate effortlessly into renovated spaces where an excess of decoration is to be avoided. It can be combined with other elements of the same white finish or coexist with materials such as natural wood, concrete or metal in dark tones. In bedrooms decorated with neutral colours, the ceiling light disappears into the wall without losing its lighting prominence.

The weight of 2 kg is manageable for installation without additional help. The packaging protects the piece well during transport, and all mounting accessories are included in the box. In the context of a renovation or home update, it is one of those modern lamps that requires no major decisions: it fits, it works and it lasts.

Questions and answers

Can the DOLME ceiling light be installed on the ceiling as well as on the wall?

According to the product specifications, the indicated mounting is on the wall. Installing it on the ceiling is not recommended, as the anchoring system is designed for that specific surface.

Can the PMMA diffuser yellow over time due to heat from the LED?

The 24W SMD LED generates a low working temperature compared to other light sources. The PMMA used in the opal diffuser is resistant to that level of heat, so under normal conditions of use it should not show any colour changes.

Does the lamp include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 24W, 3000K SMD LED light source is already included with the product. No additional components need to be purchased to install and put it into operation.
