Overview

The BRUME collection by FARO is a range of luminaires designed specifically for the bathroom. This ceiling light combines two shades: an outer transparent glass one and an inner opaque one, resulting in soft, well-distributed light without direct bright spots. It is a straightforward solution for those looking for general bathroom lighting without complicating the installation or the visual appearance of the space.

The design was developed by Alex&Manel Lluscà, a studio with a recognised track record in luminaire design. The collection bears their name, BRUME, and follows a clear logic: minimal visual complexity, clean result. FARO is a manufacturer with years of experience in interior lighting, and this model fits well within their product line for wet and domestic spaces.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the lamp, make sure to switch off the power at the electrical panel. As a surface-mounted ceiling luminaire, installation is carried out directly onto the base without the need for additional components. Verify that the surface is solid and that the wiring is accessible from the installation point. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to seek the help of an electrician.

The lamp comes with the light source included, so there is no need to purchase an LED separately. The working voltage is 220V-240V, compatible with the standard domestic network. To clean the steel body, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. The outer glass can be cleaned with a dry cloth or with products specifically designed for glass, avoiding abrasive products that may damage the surface. Do not handle the lamp while the power is connected.

Design and use

The BRUME ceiling light works on a two-layer logic. The outer transparent glass shade allows the inner structure to be seen while also protecting the assembly. The inner opaque shade is what regulates how the light is emitted: it disperses it into the space without creating glare spots. The result is uniform general lighting, without harsh shadows or areas with excessive brightness. For a bathroom, where light serves a very specific practical function, this makes a great deal of sense.

The body is made of steel with an anthracite finish. It is a colour that does not compete with the other elements of the bathroom, whatever style you have chosen. It works equally well in an interior with light tones as in a darker one. The opal finish of the inner diffuser complements that neutral tone with a discreet yet well-resolved presence from a design standpoint.

The colour temperature is 2700K, which corresponds to warm light. In the bathroom, this type of light tends to be more pleasant for everyday use: it does not have the harshness of cool white, and makes the space feel more welcoming. For tasks such as applying make-up or shaving, well-distributed warm light is easier to work with than a direct light source.

The lamp includes a 3W SMD LED light source. Although the wattage is low, the LED works efficiently and provides good general lighting coverage for a standard-sized bathroom. There is no need to replace anything when taking it out of the box: it comes ready to install.

The size of the ceiling light is compact: 80 mm in diameter and 230 mm in height. This makes it suitable for ceilings that are not particularly high, and also for small bathrooms where a larger luminaire would take up too much visual space. By being fixed directly to the ceiling, there are no hanging cables or elements that interfere with movement.

Although BRUME is designed for the bathroom, the design works equally well in other rooms. In a bedroom, a lamp with warm light and an opal diffuser can be more restful than cool light options. In a hallway, its compact profile makes it a practical option for low ceilings. In a small kitchen, it can cover areas that do not require intense lighting. Even in a secondary dining room or at the entrance to a home, the anthracite finish and outer glass give it a refined appearance without being eye-catching.

The BRUME collection is part of FARO's modern luminaire catalogue for domestic spaces. Lluscà's design follows a coherent line: pieces that do not try to be the centre of attention, but rather work well within the whole. This is particularly noticeable in spaces where the overall style is already defined and what is needed is a lamp that does not clash with it. This ceiling light fits in apartments with contemporary finishes, in bathrooms with clean lines, and also in more neutral interiors where functionality is prioritised over decorative elements.

If you are renovating the bathroom or simply want to update the lighting without making major changes, this model resolves general lighting in a straightforward and uncomplicated way.

Questions and answers

Does the BRUME ceiling light include the LED bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is included with the product. No additional components need to be purchased to switch it on from the very first moment.

Does the outer transparent glass shade allow the inside of the lamp to be seen when it is switched on?

Yes, being made of transparent glass it allows the inner opaque shade to be seen. When the lamp is switched on, the inner shade diffuses the light and prevents the LED source from being seen directly.

What is the colour temperature of this ceiling light and what kind of atmosphere does it create?

The colour temperature is 2700K, which corresponds to warm light. This type of lighting produces a softer and more welcoming result than cool light, and is particularly suitable for everyday bathroom use.
