Overview

The NILA floor lamp by FARO is a lighting solution designed for interior spaces where design matters as much as function. Its matte black steel structure and off-white cylindrical shade form a combination that fits well in a living room, a bedroom, or even a wide hallway where an independent light source away from the ceiling is desired.

What sets this lamp apart is its balance of height, proportion, and finish. With a total height of 1400 mm and a diameter of 300 mm, it occupies a discreet footprint on the floor but creates a clear visual presence. It is not a piece that goes unnoticed, but it does not compete with the rest of the furniture either.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in the lighting industry. It designs and manufactures products for interior use with criteria of durability and aesthetic coherence. The NILA lamp is part of its contemporary home line.

Installation and specifications

This lamp stands directly on the floor, with no need to drill walls or fix ceiling anchors. Simply choose the spot, place it, and plug it into a standard outlet. With a voltage range of 100V to 240V, it is compatible with the standard electrical supply in homes. It is recommended to use an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 15W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

For maintenance, the matte black steel surface can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products that may damage the finish. The off-white shade can be gently wiped with a clean cloth to remove accumulated dust. It should not be wetted or cleaned with solvents. Before any cleaning, disconnect the lamp from the power supply.

Design and use

The NILA floor lamp starts from a vertical steel structure with a matte black finish. This material gives it enough rigidity to remain stable on the floor without the need for any additional anchoring. The base distributes the weight in a balanced way, allowing the lamp to be placed at various points in a room without worrying about stability.

The off-white cylindrical shade is the element that visually defines the piece. Its simple geometry and warm tone produce a diffuse, enveloping light when the appropriate bulb is installed. It does not concentrate the beam at a single point, but distributes it more evenly to the sides and upward. This makes it a complementary light source, ideal for creating ambiance rather than replacing the main ceiling light.

In a living room, this lamp works well next to a sofa or in a corner where warmth is desired without installing fixed light points. In a bedroom, it can be placed beside the bed as an alternative to a bedside table with integrated lighting, or in a corner to soften the general lighting of the room. In a hallway with enough space, it provides an independent light point that enhances the sense of spaciousness without any construction work.

It also fits well in transitional or mixed-use spaces. In an open kitchen connected to the dining area, a floor lamp can visually define the living zone without the need for partitions. In a dining room, it can complement the central light over the table and add depth to the overall setting. In a large bathroom, if space allows, it can function as ambient lighting near a reading or relaxation area.

The combination of matte black and off-white is a palette that adapts to various decorative styles. It works well with light or dark wood furniture, neutral-toned upholstery, polished concrete floors, or whitewashed walls. It also coexists easily with metallic elements in gold or black, which are common finishes in modern décor.

The height of 1400 mm places it at a scale that is visually comfortable in rooms with standard ceilings. It is not excessively tall, but sufficient for the shade to sit at eye level when seated, which improves the distribution of light in the plane where it is most needed.

Its weight of 1.67 kg makes it easy to handle. Moving it from one room to another requires no effort, and this allows you to try different positions before deciding where it looks best. For anyone renovating or redecorating, that flexibility has real value.
