Overview

The MARTINICA floor lamp by Faro Barcelona combines a classic aesthetic with details that make it useful in contemporary interiors. Its adjustable shade allows you to direct the light exactly where it is needed, and the ability to regulate the height adapts it to different spaces without complications. It is a lamp that works well both in a large living room and in a bedroom, where localized lighting makes a difference.

The body is made of steel with a black finish, and the metal shade has a bright satin finish in blue. It is not a color that goes unnoticed, but it is not excessive either. It fits naturally with dark furniture, neutral walls, or wooden elements in medium or light tones.

Faro Barcelona has been designing luminaires for domestic use for decades. The MARTINICA collection is part of that trajectory: pieces with their own character that do not sacrifice functionality.

Installation and specifications

For installation, since it is a floor lamp, no ceiling anchoring or intervention in the fixed electrical installation is required. Simply plug it into a standard outlet. Before switching it on for the first time, make sure that the mains voltage is compatible with the indicated range. The lamp does not include a bulb, so it is advisable to have an E27 LED bulb on hand, with a maximum power of 15 W.

For maintenance, clean the shade and body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive products or those containing solvents that could affect the satin finish. Always disconnect the lamp before cleaning it or changing the bulb. Do not install it in bathrooms without an adequate protection rating, or in areas with high humidity.

Design and use

The MARTINICA is a floor lamp with a clear visual presence. The metal shade in blue with a bright satin finish is not a minor detail: it defines the character of the piece as a whole and adds a touch of color without disrupting the balance of the space. The black steel body gives it solidity and visual weight, although the piece is physically light, at just under two kilograms.

The height of 1500 mm makes it a floor lamp of standard proportions, which does not compete with the furniture but does make itself noticed. In a living room, placed next to a sofa or armchair, it creates a reading area with directed light. In a bedroom, it can replace or complement the bedside table, especially when the space does not allow wall sconces to be installed. In a dining room without sufficient overhead lighting, a lamp like this adds a warm and functional light source in a corner or next to a sideboard.

The adjustable shade is a practical detail. Not all floor lamps allow you to adjust where the light points, and that simple gesture makes quite a difference day to day. You can angle it toward a wall to obtain reflected and more diffuse light, or direct it downward for more concentrated illumination. The height adjustment adds another layer of adaptability, useful when furniture is changed or when the lamp is to be used in different rooms at different times.

The design of the MARTINICA falls within an updated classic aesthetic. The shade is reminiscent of models from the mid-last century, but the satin blue finish gives it a modern touch that sets it apart from the purely retro. It combines well with interiors that mix styles: a hallway with wooden floors and white walls, a living room with straight-lined furniture, or a room with vintage elements mixed with more contemporary pieces.

The metal material of the shade offers quite a clean light reflection. Unlike fabric or wicker shades, the metal interior with a bright finish returns light more sharply, which is especially useful for specific tasks such as reading or working with your hands. That clarity in illumination is one of the reasons why this type of lamp remains a common choice in living rooms and bedrooms, even when other light sources are present in the room.

In terms of aesthetic compatibility, the blue of the shade works well alongside neutral colors such as white, grey, or beige, as well as more saturated tones such as dark green or terracotta. In a dining room or hallway with colored walls, it can act as a point of contrast without clashing. With natural wood floors or furniture, the blue takes on a warmer and more balanced presence.

It is a piece that requires no professional installation or tools. It is taken to the corner where it will stand, plugged in, and ready to use. That simplicity of use is part of what makes a floor lamp such a common resource for improving the lighting of any room without renovation work or complications.

Questions and answers

Can the shade of the MARTINICA lamp be moved once it is in place, or does it stay fixed in a single position?

The shade is adjustable, which means you can change the direction of the light according to what you need at any given moment. The height is also adjustable, so you can adapt the lamp to different situations or spaces.

What type of bulb is required, and is it included in the package?

The lamp uses an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately before using the lamp for the first time.

Is the body of the lamp completely metal, or does it combine other materials?

The body is made of steel with a black finish. The shade is also metal, with a bright satin finish in blue. No other structural materials are used in its construction.
