Overview

The SHELBY lamp by FARO is an outdoor luminaire designed to illuminate gardens, terraces and patios with warm, uniform light. It mounts directly on the wall with no visible cables, and integrates well into modern facades or open-air spaces where design matters as much as functionality.

The large-surface transparent diffuser distributes light evenly, with no bright spots or shadowed areas. The integrated 10W LED source provides sufficient illumination for pathway lighting, home access or outdoor ambiance. There is no need to purchase a bulb separately: the lamp already includes its light source.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Its SHELBY collection follows an aesthetic of clean lines and finishes that age well under outdoor conditions.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. The lamp mounts on an exterior wall or surface with direct fixing. Before installing it, make sure the surface is solid and capable of supporting the weight of the unit. A prepared power outlet or wiring run to the mounting point is required. Electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified professional. The lamp is compatible with voltages between 100V and 240V, so no adapters are needed for standard domestic use.

Use and maintenance. To clean the aluminium body, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The polycarbonate diffuser may accumulate dust or dirt over time; clean it with water and mild soap. Do not disassemble the fixture to clean it while it is connected to the mains.

Design and use

The SHELBY wall light has a body made of aluminium, a material that combines lightness and durability for outdoor use. Aluminium does not oxidise easily and retains its appearance for years without requiring special treatments. The dark grey finish is neutral and versatile: it adapts well to light or dark facades, stone walls or rendered surfaces.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser is one of the most notable elements of this lantern. Unlike opaque or frosted diffusers, the transparent one reveals the light source and produces a more direct distribution, with a stronger visual presence. It is an option that works well when the lamp is intended to be part of the decorative ensemble, not merely to provide illumination.

The 10W SMD LED light source is integrated into the fixture, which simplifies installation and eliminates the need to manage separate bulbs. The 3000K colour temperature produces warm light, the kind that feels welcoming in outdoor night-time settings. This light tone is common at residential entrances, garden paths or outdoor seating areas, where cold lighting might feel too clinical.

Although the product is an outdoor lamp, its aesthetic also suits semi-covered spaces such as porches, garages with exterior access or interior courtyards with natural ventilation. Its compact form — 330 mm high by 190 mm wide and deep — allows it to be placed without taking up too much visual space on the wall.

This type of lamp works well installed in pairs, one on each side of a main door, or in sequence along an access path. The SHELBY collection allows different outdoor luminaire formats to be combined while maintaining aesthetic consistency. If you already have other garden lights or floor lanterns from the same collection, the wall light integrates effortlessly.

From a lighting standpoint, 10W in LED technology delivers noticeably clear light, suitable for orientation and safety outdoors. It is not a lamp designed to illuminate large surfaces on its own, but it perfectly fulfils its role as an access light, signage or ambiance lighting on a terrace or in a garden.

The weight of 1.53 kg makes the fixture manageable during installation, although it is advisable to have assistance if installing at height. The individual box with a gross weight of 1.8 kg arrives well protected to prevent damage during transport.

Questions and answers

Does the lamp include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SHELBY fixture includes the integrated 10W SMD LED source. No additional bulb is required; the lamp is ready to connect and install.

Does the transparent diffuser affect light distribution outdoors?

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows a more direct light output than an opal diffuser. The distribution is uniform, but with greater visual presence of the source. It is suitable for access lighting or ambiance in a garden or patio.

Is it possible to install this lamp on a brick or stone wall?

Yes. The fixing is wall-mounted, meaning it is anchored directly to the wall with screws. It works on brick, concrete or stone surfaces, provided the wall is sufficiently solid and the appropriate fixings are used for each type of material.
