Overview

The FARO RUSH 800 beacon is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed in gardens, parks, paths and entrances. It is placed directly in the ground and provides directed lighting that defines the space without the need for construction work or complex installations. The asymmetric 180-degree distribution option allows light to be directed exactly where it is needed, rather than scattering it in all directions.

The body is made of aluminium and polycarbonate, resulting in a structure that is resistant to the passage of time and typical outdoor conditions. IP65 protection ensures that rain and dust do not affect performance. The IK10 impact resistance rating is one of the highest available in outdoor luminaires, which is useful in high-traffic areas or gardens with frequent activity.

FARO is a Spanish brand specialising in lighting, with decades of experience designing products for residential and professional environments. Its RUSH 800 collection is part of its technical outdoor range, where durability and performance take precedence over decorative appearance.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This lamp is fixed to the ground by direct anchoring. Before installing it, make sure that the installation point has an accessible power outlet and that the wiring is protected in accordance with applicable regulations for outdoor installations. As an outdoor luminaire with IP65, it can be installed in areas exposed to rain, but the connection wiring must always be kept away from areas where water accumulates. It is recommended that electrical installation be carried out by a qualified professional.

Use and maintenance. The aluminium surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser is well suited to outdoor exposure, although periodic cleaning helps to maintain optimal light transmission. Do not handle the lamp while the installation is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The RUSH 800 beacon stands 800 millimetres tall, placing it at an intermediate scale: tall enough to be visible and give presence to the space, but without visually dominating the surroundings as a larger lantern would. This proportion makes it suitable for lining access paths, defining garden areas or marking perimeters in parks and open spaces.

The dark grey finish gives it a sober character that fits well both in contemporary-style gardens and in more natural settings. It does not draw attention during the day, but at night, when the lamp is on, it fulfils its function clearly. The 3000 K light produces a warm tone that is neither cold nor clinical, and that suits outdoor spaces where a pleasant atmosphere is desired without sacrificing visibility.

The included COB LED light source provides concentrated and efficient illumination. This type of technology distributes light more evenly than conventional LEDs and has a long service life, reducing the need for frequent replacements. With 20 W of power, the lamp delivers sufficient performance to illuminate the surrounding area without being excessive.

One of the most practical features of this beacon is its asymmetric 180-degree distribution option. When installed next to a wall, a fence or at the edge of a path, this feature allows all the light to be directed towards the side of interest, avoiding losses towards areas where it is not needed. This makes a real difference in terms of efficiency and visual result.

The combination of aluminium and polycarbonate in the construction follows a straightforward logic: aluminium provides rigidity and mechanical strength, while the polycarbonate diffuser ensures that the cover will not shatter from a casual impact. The IK10 rating is the maximum on the impact resistance scale for luminaires, which provides peace of mind in installations where there is movement of people, light vehicles or nearby sporting activity.

IP65 protection means that the lamp is completely sealed against dust and resistant to water jets from any angle. This makes it a suitable option for climates with frequent rainfall or for areas where ambient humidity is high. It requires no additional protection or seasonal cover.

In private gardens, this beacon works well installed in series along a path, marking the route with warm light. In public or communal spaces, its robustness makes it particularly suitable for high-traffic areas where equipment must withstand intensive use. It also adapts to installations on terraces or outdoor patios, where ground-level lighting adds depth and warmth to the night-time atmosphere.

Questions and answers

What does IP65 protection mean for the beacon and in what situations is it relevant?

IP65 indicates that the lamp is completely protected against dust and resistant to water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor installation without additional protection, even in areas exposed to direct rain.

Does the 180-degree asymmetric lighting option require any special configuration during installation?

The asymmetric distribution is a feature of the lamp's optical design. To take advantage of it, simply orient the beacon correctly during installation, directing the beam towards the area to be illuminated. No additional accessories are required.

What level of impact resistance does this lamp offer and why is it important in an outdoor environment?

The beacon has an IK10 rating, which is the maximum level of resistance to mechanical impacts according to European standards. It is particularly useful in high-traffic areas or in installations where there is a risk of accidental knocks.
